PlayStation 4 To Out Perform Xbox 720

Theres nothing better than a bit of friendly competition and in the gaming world there's always competition, especially between Microsoft and Sony, and recent rumours coming from PSM3 magazine have ruled in favour of Sonys up and coming console. Many of you may have heard recently that both the next Sony and Microsoft Console are expected to be making appearances at this years E3 along side the Wii U, this has caused some controversy. However, this has been sorted by PSM3. Although it is a magazine dedicated to PlayStation users, it states that the next generation console will have the necessary hardware to put Microsoft's new Xbox to shame. According to reports the ‘Xbox 720 will contain a PowerPC processor similar to the 360 and will be shipped with the Kinect 2.0, however it is said that the PlayStation will not only be superior in hardware but the console will also be more innovative. I guess we will have to wait and see... Let me know your thoughts. Source: 1337Squad

IBM (With Toshiba & Sony engineers) created both the CELL and the Xenon (Sort of... the IBM guys created the PowerPC portion of the Xenon for Microsoft and MS engineers produced the tri-core architecture around it). I believe there will be a strong push for backwards compatability so it's obvious MS is going for powerPC again. PS3 will likely get a scaled-up CELL processor with 1 or 2 PPUs and 16 normal SPEs or 8 more powerful SPEs comared to the PS3 (1 PPU, 8 SPEs - 6 available, 1 OS reserved, 1 disabled). PS3 will get a beefy NVDIA GPU this time and Xbox 360 will go with a beefy ATI GPU. Because the CELL scales so well I have no doubt the PS4 will produce much better visuals and have more theoretical power than the next Xbox.

But it all comes down to games; which will have a better library at launch. Even the PS3 outperformed the XBox 360 when it was launched, but its launch library sucked balls, while the 360 had a good library of games.

lets just hope the price difference isnt as big as it was with XBox360/PS3, cause that will surely push away many people from it, especially with the current financial crisis around the world

No the 360 has a better GPU than the PS3 and its RAM is handled more efficently. I will still be going Sony again, prefer there 1st party titles.

There's still plenty of time for Microsoft to decide they need to pack some better hardware into their Xbox720 before it's released. But they're probably going for cost effectiveness as opposed to power.

lol. this kinda sucks. i'm already deep into ps3, but i have yet to see any good offline gameplay that actually last more than a week.

instead, we're getting the next system, one that MIGHT not come with B/C. What is the point? PS3 already have almost everything and the Devs aren't using the BD to it fullest. X360 burned out within 3 yrs, mostly because of the limitation of the dvd-9 format. there only so much you can compress on that stuff.

And it was pretty smart of M$ to put in a recorder for DVD, but makes me wonder if they'll be able to get away with it. Dual disc loader? sound like it gonna overheat and burn. I have yet to see what PS4 will give, as i've never liked the limitation of x360 and M$.

At the end f the day it depends on developers and codrs, if the hardware is to complex to code for which the ps3's cell was at launch then you will not see a good launch library. I think that again MS could be on to another good win here at least at first, power pc has been around for years so it is much esier to code for, with added extras should make a good gaming experience but with beefed up cell? well it is only in the recent year we have seen coders putting in the work for the ps3 and many have stated that it takes a lot more time to do. So if these are the roumers? Then I think peronally MS is in the winning seat at start, but again rumers are rumers and nothing has been confirmed so we will all have to wait and seewhat is round the corner.

well, we can say for sure that the weaker system will have better looking games, when it's multiplatform, since they will make it for the weaker console, and port it to the stronger.... the same way it happens today.

i'd go with the stronger, since on the exclusives we will really see awesome things, and i hope Sony to be the stronger, since it's exclusives are way better than microsoft ones.

This is because Sony's launch titles were built on rudimentary tools by devs inexperienced with the CELL processor, most of the launch titles used no more than the PPU and the GPU, this can be seen by poor framerate and washed out visuals of the PS3's launch titles.

Now that devs are experienced with the CELL and Sony has developed very powerful and easy tools for devs to use, you can expect the PS4 to have much better launch titles.

after PS vita's low sales in Japan, i don't think its a good idea to bring PS4 soon. Im afraid that Apple would join the console wars in future years.

I just hope developers don't have a hard time developing software for the ps4, like they did with the ps3's cell processor.

without next gen media like blu ray, xbox will flunk like a smelly old shoebox.... media type is important, hope they wont try to review HDDVD or create another media for failure...

PS4 has already won, Sony own blueray which means better graphics for the PS3 & PS4 console, Blueray can hold an amazing ammount of memory which means that games will be alot larger and bigger in the near future. Xbox only uses the standard DVD Discs which only hold up to a maximum of something like 30GB, even though this is quite alot it means that Xbox games will be limited due to memory space which will mean low graphics, small maps, less characters, less realism. If you still think this is wrong feel free to reply back but just saying i seriously recommend getting a PS4 instead of a new Xbox, I don't have neither consoles but that is my honest opinion,

If you want the game for graphics, GET A GAMING PC!

I'm sick of all these pc gamers that think they rule the gaming universe because they can display teh beast graphics evar. Yeah yeah the graphics are great but what about the games? If a system doesn't have games that you like then it's pointless. And, yes. PC has many awesome, exclusive games. Like System Shock 2 for example, I love that game with a passion.

But me. Personally. I wouldn't give up my Playstation 3 for anything even if I was given the most powerfull PC in the world. I love playstation. So many awesome, spectacular, exclusive games. Awesome games that you can't play on any other platform. I love playstations games (as a whole. ps1, 2 etc.) more than any other platform. It scares the shit out of me to think that I couldn't play of these games again. Like spyro, crash, metal gear solid, ratchet and clank, jak and daxter, kingdom hearts (first 2 anyway), sly cooper, god of war, gran turismo, resistance, uncharted, killzone, little big planet, dead nation, and many MANY more that I can't name right now :P.

It's why I don't like nintendos platforms and games. Yeah their games are like 75+% exclusive like playstaion but I don't how to explain it perfectly. There games just, bore me. So I've given up on nintendo. Don't get me wrong the games are awesome, it's fine for people to like them, they are not bad. I just don't like them. And actually, the only thing that I regret about selling my wii is metroid (specifically metroid prime trilogy). The only thing that would make me think twice about selling my wii, or ds. Everything else is just meh to me.

And It's also why I think the xbox 360 is a steaming load of every pile of shit you can imagine. It has practically no games at all. It has what, 4 exclusive franchizes? Halo (the most over rated game ever imo), gears, forza, kinect games, and a few xbox live games. That's about it. That's pathetic. Well, ok there is ONE thing about the 360 that is actually really cool. The the xbox live arcade and the selection of games is pretty impressive. But that's all the good I can think of about 360 :/

oh yeah and dvds can only hold a maximum of 8.5 gbs. Yeah. And blu-rays can hold 50 gbs. Yeah.
