OpenCMA: Bypass PS Vita Updates

Submitted by Tranced_1; January 02, 2012

It was bound to happen and great news this is indeed. A developer has released OpenCMA. This basically bypasses the mandatory updates allowing you to stay on lower firmwares.

Version: r2

I believe that many people have found PSVita's the CMA (Playstation content management assistant) often refuse to work. CMA often an excuse to strike the following:

  • Not connected to the Internet
  • Not updated to the latest official firmware.

Sony did so in order to prevent cracking. Think about how hackers released tomorrow for a certain version of the PSV of the crackers. Sony can make your PSV in the CMA acceptance before the update can not connect to access any content.

openCMA can help you solve the problem.

Installation method:

  1. If the CMA is running, turn off the CMA
  2. Extract all files to the CMA installation directory
  3. Run run.bat, (WIN7 user may need to run as administrator)
  4. Re-run the CMA

psp2-updatelist.xml update files in disguise. If you really need to upgrade later, you can upgrade to temporarily rename this file before, but this update from the Internet. Or download the latest psp2-updatelist.xml to the CMA directory:

Changelog:

Fixed under the bat execution win7

Nice to see virtuosflame working on the Vita. Sad thing is the link is dead. Any fixes?

HOW THE HELL IS THIS SUPPOSED TO BE RELATED TO PS3 HACKS?

Seriously dashhacks, your posts have recenlty been useless and not related to hacking ps3 and stuff.

This fits better in the PSP section. I think they'll make a new section for the Vita once it gets hacked.

You guys need to understand that the Vita may never be hacked. The onlyreason the PSP was hacked was because the PS3 was hacked. The vita most likely has wayynote protection then the PS3a therefore will take years before its hacked. I'm familiar with PS3 hackingado I looked at Vita firmware to see how hard it it. It's something radically new and it will never be hacked.

LOL

Dude, Wololo got it running HBL and in turn, a SNES emulator. This, coupled with the new hack/fix here that lets you continue to copy files onto your PS Vita without being connected to the internet means that hacking the Vita has already taken place and shows no signs of slowing down.
