Sega has released a new trailer for Binary Domain, but it's all in Japanese. It's not too hard to figure out what's going on and thankfully someone has done a little translation.
Over at Siliconera, somebody took the time to make it a little clearer. Apparently one major feature of the game is a consequence system. So if you keep sending a certain squadmate into certain doom, he or she will start to have a different opinion of you and may understandably react differently to your commands in the future.
Of course, it's obvious from the trailer that you will be able to give your squad voice commands with your headset, which is something that a lot of players have been waiting for. I've always thought that your headset could be much more useful than just a multiplayer device, so it's good to see it get some love. Binary Domain will be on the Xbox 360 as well, so voice commands via Kinect would be great too, but don't hold your breath. The trailer also showcases something called Ripple Link, but it's not entirely clear what that is - probably something to do with the actions of your squad and the consequences, etc.
So far, Binary Domain looks like a great third-person cover shooter that fans of hidden gems like Vanquish will enjoy. It comes out February 2012.
