New Sleeping Dogs Dev Diary - Get Chopped

The game that began its life as True Crime: Hong Kong has morphed into Sleeping Dogs...and the guys making it went to great lengths to capture the seedy underbelly of Hong Kong.

Those developers visited Hong Kong and really dug in, walking the alleyways, taking pictures, and even interacting with the Triads. The Triad gangs (and their relationships with local police) are a huge part of Sleeping Dogs, so it makes sense that they'd want to get as close as possible.

Though it sounds like they got taken for a bit of a ride, no pun intended, the developers talk about how they drove around town with some Triads, listening to their stories. Whether the story about the maimed guy who got "chopped" was true or not, it gives you a good idea about what you'll be seeing in the game.

Sleeping Dogs is due out sometime during the second half of 2012.
