New Dead Rising Game May Star a New Hero

Yesterday, it was rumored that a new Dead Rising was on its way from Capcom (despite the fact that we have had four different DR games over the past 1-2 years) and it was intimated that Frank West would be returning as the hero like he did in DR2: Off the Record after being absent from Dead Rising 2.

Apparently, we spoke too soon.

Now, Siliconera has talked to a source that says we will be getting an entirely new hero in the next Dead Rising. Our new protagonist will be a an auto mechanic named Rick and the story will be set in a California town called Los Perdidos. Evil corporation Phenotrans is once again involved and a bomb is about to go off, destroying Los Perdidos and the zombies that have overrun it. Rick has to fix up an airplane so he can escape the town. This auto mechanic should be able to come up with some pretty cool combo weapons, dontch think? He also looks like he's channeling Ash from Evil Dead in the pic on Siliconera, so that's pretty cool.

It sounds like a familiar set-up in the Dead Rising universe. Go there, get this, bring it back. Rinse and repeat. You only have a set amount of time for each mission, etc. The only difference is that unless Rick is building a Learjet you probably won't be rescuing dozens of survivors like you do in the other games. There's also a theme of illegal immigration mixed in with the zombies. Huh?

Of course, if there's co-op Frank West could always be the other guy.
