The Modern Warfare 3 success train continues to roll on. While we've all heard the phenomenal numbers and records coming out regarding MW3's sales and multiplayer activity on Xbox Live, Sony has been a little mum. Instead of releasing numbers, Jack Tretton, President and SEO of Sony Computer Entertainment of America has released a statement.
"In just over a week, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has been hugely successful on PlayStation 3, and continues to drive millions of players globally to PlayStation Network with its unprecedented and engaging online multiplayer experience. The Call of Duty franchise is one of the biggest entertainment brands on the planet, delivering gameplay experiences like no other which is why we're also excited to bring the Call of Duty franchise to our highly-anticipated next generation portable, PlayStation Vita, where we expect fans will continue their dedication to the most amazing Call of Duty experiences whether in the home or on the go."
Of course, without releasing the numbers this is so much chaff. Though it is good to hear that COD will make its way to the Vita, Sony should be letting us know exactly what kind of numbers they are seeing. One must assume that they don't want to open up a new can of worms in their competition with Xbox, which is understandable. What do you think? Will you be playing COD on the Vita?

Well with the major draw of MW being the online multiplayer, I find it unlikely anyone will play it "on the go" per se.
Internet play would require an access point, most likely found in your own house. And if you're going to play MW3 in your own home, you'll play it on your console or pc.
And if you're going to play ad-hoc, you're also unlikely to find a big enough group of friends to play with to make a decent game.
And to be honest, i've never seen anyone play a PSP game online in a public space, EVER.

3G has unfortunately too high latency/ping to work good with games like first person shooters.
But eventhough PS Vita is a portable unit, i dont think that everyone will play it on the go. I'm getting a PS Vita and i have no plans on using it on the go. I will mostly use it at home.

Hmm.. It all depends. I have tons of friends that plays the psp, and we used to go monster hunting (Monster Hunter) all the time. And i've also seen plenty of people use psps in public areas, maybe not as much as the DS, but enough.
And the 3g version of the psp vita can play online, as a previous poster has stated. Another poster also said that 3g is bad for a high quality game like this fps. This is also arguable. It all depends on wether the multiplayer is pvp or server based. (Not the vita itself). and it also depends on what the player cap for one game is.
All in all, we just have to wait and see.

True, true. I loved playing Monster Hunter with friends, but that's essentially made for ad-hoc with up to 4 players. MW is generally meant for a larger amount of players per map, and although I don't know much about 3G i'd wager high latency and such. I should hope the servers won't all be listen servers, or lag would be an issue.
But all in all, this is just speculation. You're right, we'll just have to wait and see.

See that's the thing. You can play MW3 online on the go. All you have to get is the At&T wifi card with it that gives you unlimited wifi. And for $300 you can get it...no not just the card but the PS VITA and the card.

I have been playing MW3 and many other first person shooters from TMobile 3G Network because it works better than my cable internet. I have no problems with connection or speed.
