Pro: Guides Can Help Without Cheat Codes
Let's face it: there are some games that are going to simply leave you stumped for what to do next. Are you having trouble beating that final boss, or you're just stuck for what action the developers want you to do next? Then a guide in video or text format might just be the solution to your problems. After all, you've done so well to get this far, and it would be a pity to say you've wasted your hard-earned sixty dollars to only play two-thirds of a game. You might just need a little bit of guidance to push you the right way, which is by it's nature what a guide can do for you.

There's also the accepted notion that the very help you are getting from a guide is free of the blatant workarounds that are cheat codes. Sure, a third-third party might be telling you what you need to do to get to that very next level, but you still have to have the reflexes and smarts to pull it off on your own. With a method like this, you are still getting the genuine game experience in a way that prevents you from having to stop playing a game that you might actually like just because you're getting frustrated with it. A guide can really work as a slight helping hand when used in the right places.
Guides can also let you get more content from your games too. I'll discuss that notion next!

Whether or not someone uses a guide doesn't make them any more or less of a gamer, and I think it immature for people to judge others based on that. And let's be realistic, those of us who have jobs and lives outside of gaming don't want to use up all of our spare time constantly backtracking and wandering aimlessly to find every little thing. Some of us want to be able to complete a game in a reasonable amount of time so that we can put time into the next game we're looking forward to. Those who at least put effort into completing a game without the use of game hacks or cheats are considered gamers in my book.
