Black Ops 2...What's Left To Do?

Submitted by UnashamedVandal; April 19, 2012

It might be starting to become a recycled game and Call of Duty after Call of Duty; I start to wonder if there are any ideas left in the tank for Activision. Why would I say this you ask? Well interesting rumours have popped up from the direction of Kotaku, and these rumours come in the form of a game related poster, all the signs from this image point directly towards Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. The picture looks to hold all of the Black Ops style and clearly specifies a May 2nd release date. However after the endless amount of COD games, what is going to be left for the series? Although they all contain storylines that are respectably average and no more, with the little changes relating to online gameplay between previous titles, will they continue to fly high forever or are we looking towards the end of an era? Its true, other game series have survived much longer such as Final Fantasy, however even they are now being heavily criticised. Activision will always have a new campaign to write but the online side of the game will surely become tedious? It doesn't seem to matter whether their new games are any different from the previous, because their fanbase is more loyal than Apple's and will buy their products regardless :|

the thing is, with games like Call of Duty, it doesnt matter about story that much a long as there are new levels.

Same shit over and over and over just different textures, point shoot kill, and some achievments, yea that was fun a long time ago, until they kept stretching out the series for no reason with little innovation.

Final fantasy isn't being criticized for its storytelling, graphics, or the fact that just because it says final fantasy some idiots think that the name is literal.

What final fantasy, moreso (ONLY) FF13 is being criticized for is it Completely linear gameplay, and really bad choices like creating dlc and shit dlc at that.

The Op's paragraph mentioning FF is misinformed and completely irrelivant to the subject.
