A Huge Win For FPS'...

Submitted by UnashamedVandal; February 22, 2012

Next time someone gives you shit for playing violent video game you can tell them the following... Back off! I got some bad guys to shoot. Except for the fact that most people would be happy to say that, its always better when you have a reason...and here goes. Recent studies have shown that children born with a rare form of cataracts can improve their vision later in life by playing FPS video games. Six patiences were used as test subjects who all at one point suffered from this illness, they were told to play Medal of Honour for no more or no less than two hours a day for one month. After completing this task they returned for some surprising results, it would seem that five out of six of them showed some significant vision improvement. You know those lines of text they use at the opticians that you have to read from? The improvement in their vision was equal to that of being able to read two lines smaller on ones of those charts, pretty damn impressive. Although this wasnt particularly Dashhacks related, it is a great little fact regarding video games. Especially when as a kid most people were told video games and television would turn their eyes square, in your face mum! Totally proved you wrong. Let me know your thoughts.

I already have great vision except for when i play games for about 2 hours straight, real life gets a little blurry for 15 mins lol...

I'd like to hope video games are good for our eyes though haha

Did the results of the study say why FPS games that helped the children with cateracts? Do other types of games have the same benefits? A source would be nice too, it would probably be an interesting read :)

Ermmm...I'm trying to wrap my head around this comment, it doesn't make much sense my friend. If you mean TV & video games are worse for your sight then yes you would be true, however this test wasn't conducted on standard people. Please re-read the article.

Thanks for your comment anyway.

Well i don't mind First person games i just hate it that all we can do in those god forsaken games is shoot stuff, seriously how much effort do you people think it is for a soldier to push a damn trigger to shoot things? screw that, i want to get up close and personal and use the body for what it was designed for: some good ol dragon ball z like fighting action and beat the crap out of people this is why i hate FPSs God Bless AVP the alien and The Elder Scrolls series... At least in these my character is actually doing alot more then just moving his damn finger to push a stupid trigger... -_- Reality vs. fiction? Fiction wins...
