multiMAN 04.19.07 Released: There's Good News & Bad News

[Almost] everyone's favorite backup manager got itself another update. deank has released multiMAN 04.19.07 and continues the usual flow of updates. With this version, multidisc PS1 games are now supported with the new PS1_NETEMU emulator that was implemented in the previous version. With this last feature being added in, PS1 support should be as complete as it's ever going to be. Unfortunately, this update also spells bad news for some users.

 

Shortly after the release, deank has announced that support for custom firmwares earlier than 4.30 will be ended with the release of 05.00.00, whenever that should be. He came to the decision to end support for these firmwares after supporting them for the past 2 and a half years. With the scene moving forward with newer custom firmwares, etc., he feels that he should as well. With that being said, your choices is to either upgrade, stay put with 04.19.07 or find another backup manager completely.

No support for 3.55 is a serious bummer, but honestly it's the way the scene is headed. There is very little now that you can't get on 4.30 so it's probably better for users to upgrade. I don't think deank will lose much support from this. :P

I wish he'd support Rebug 4.21 as well, but legacy support for stuff like this can end up causing more trouble than it's worth.

I agree, 4.21 should have been the cutoff for support.

no support, end of the day the backup manager has all you need really for 3.55 cfw's

if its easier for him to make the new features work on the new cfw then peeps should update.

end of the day this is free so you cant really demand anything.

Even though he made multiman free for all, he is still profiteering from the scene with cobra. And with an open source payload around the corner which would finally make the cobra dongle obsolete, if deank insists on forcing us to upgrade with $ony-like draconianism, then the least he can do is include the cobra payload into 05.00.00 with 4.30+ rogero and rebug support.

Does anyone have experience with psx emulation, my ps3 doesen ´t want to load psx game it´s just make black screen...

@readysetreleas e - believe it or not, these things takes time that could be spent on making more money in another way. I'm sure if he had more people donating to his cause than bitching at him, he wouldn't have to partner up with people like cobra to make any of his work worth continuing. I'm sure deank has to eat too!
