[Video]: E3 Flasher - Slim 3.70 to 3.55 Downgrade

Another device, similar to ProgSkeet, that'll connect and talk directly to the PS3 Flash (NOR and NAND) is in the works... The E3 Flasher, from the same cats who brought us the E3 Card Reader, is scheduled for release next week. Below is a video demonstrating the E3 Flasher -- downgrading from firmware 3.70 to 3.55... The device itself isn't shown -- "In this video there no images of the E3 FLASHER as we need to keep our design under wraps until it is ready for release."

You may be right but I'm pretty sure what he was messing with in the USB port in the video was a flash drive. The reason I'm guessing it's internal is because it takes "some soldering" on the phats but then again there were some PS3 USB mod chips that required some soldering. Regardless, it's a mod chip that you would have to purchase not an app that you could simply install onto a flash drive.

not really what he was asking. No you won't be able to play 3.60+ games off of a hard drive through a loader like multiman. This is for people that want to be able to go online (3.70 mode) for retail bought games and then switch to 3.55 for hard drive games.

Great news for the people who have just updated to 3.70 and might want some homebrew, when they can't be arsed to go buy a game it happens lol the thing is tho sony will release a new fw again and again, so if this works well peeps DON'T update past 3.70 disable your auto update cause they will patch that mofo sharpish .....>new cfw 3.70 might be a real possiblity now with this hack time will tell

basically i don't see any connection from the tv to the console,nexthe have enoughtime to change the hdmi cable to any ps3 console beside it that not even in the view of the camera,i think it's abit fishy

I'll probably buy one if it's decently priced. By Decently priced that means Both USB and Flasher are under 45$.

If not, anything more and you can pickup a used barebones console anyways.

wouldn't a second HDD take care of that? One HDD running 3.55cfw while the other is formatted to stock 3.7ofw.

just make sure you use 3.55 ofw .pup file to update BEFORE updating to current, it leaves no sign of homebrew.

you can modify the game files to make most games work on 3.55... or you could find a version of the game thats already been fixed for it

I wonder if people realizing reflashing the firmware over and over will kill the lifecycle of the NAND from the data sheet for the Samsung k9f1g08u0a NAND I suspect this can become a problem.

I doubt Sony was planing on releasing 100,000 firmware updates and it
would be pretty hard to get close to 100,000 but could happen depending
on how many times you re flash the firmware in a day to switch between
official to play games online and custom for home brew.

Yeah, i assumed that he was thinking about CFW and using backup manager, but he only mentioned that he couldnt play 3.60+ games. If you have the ability to switch between 3.70 and 3.55 quite easily, it is possible to both play 3.60+ games and have homebrew :) He didnt mention anything about playing pirated games. I know that it is fully possible to use backup managers with own ripped games as well, but if you own the game disc, at least you will be able to play it with the 3.70/3.55 switching method :)

Completely impossible. New games are encrypted with different and unknown keys, which means you can't decrypt and modify a damn thing.
And no luck with patches either: 3.60 SDKs are now mandatory for game and patch/DLC development.

This is great news for homebrew, if you just wanted to pirate moar gamez (cuz u r a pirate ahrr) then you're out of luc :)

Yeah, that is true. I'm not speaking about any specific here, but in general i'm not surprised if 90% of those who want a new CFW for PS3 mainly wants it for piracy reasons. I could be wrong though, but that is just my guess.

can install mutil players software directly for multi-players' games !

how abt if i buy a new hdd of 3.55 or less firmware??? is it possible???
