True Blue, No Longer Requires Special BD-R Discs

Submitted by greg; November 01, 2011

Previously we reported that the True Blue jailbreak dongle (or JB2) would require special blank BD-R discs for 3.60+ games to work properly; these discs would be sold alongside the device from official resellers, who we still don't know yet. Well, you can scratch all that "special" Blu-ray nonsense now because the hardcores behind True Blue have figured a means to using regular, plain ol' BD-Rs ... nothing special here -- just get the dongle, burn your games, and play 'em. Here is the full, long list of 3.60+ games reported working with True Blue:
  • Alice: Madness Returns
  • Assassin's Creed: Revelations
  • Battlefield 3
  • Bleach: Soul Resurreccion
  • Bodycount
  • Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2012
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
  • Call of Juarez: The Cartel
  • Captain America: Super Soldier
  • Catherine
  • Child of Eden
  • Dark Souls
  • Dead Island
  • Deus Ex: Human Revolution
  • Dirt 3
  • Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi
  • Dungeon Siege III
  • Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3
  • F.E.A.R. 3
  • F1 2011
  • GoldenEye 007: Reloaded
  • Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
  • Just Dance 3
  • Madden NFL 2012
  • Metal Gear Solid HD Collection
  • NBA 2K12
  • Need for Speed: The Run
  • No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise
  • Portal 2
  • Rage
  • Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One
  • Rayman Origins
  • Record of Agarest War Zero
  • Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny
  • Saints Row: The Third Shadows of the Damned
  • Silent Hill: Downpour
  • Skylanders Spyro's Adventure
  • Sonic Generations
  • Supremacy MMA
  • Tekken Hybrid
  • The Adventures of Tintin
  • The Cursed Crusade
  • The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
  • The King of Fighters XIII
  • The Lord of the Rings: War in the North
  • The Sims 3: Pets
  • Thor: God of Thunder
  • Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Trilogy HD
  • Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3
  • Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
  • Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine
  • White Knight Chronicles II
  • WWE '12
And I'd imagine there are more. To the True Blue dudes, whoever you are -- respect! - source: ps3crunch

How can skyrim be listed on the games list? It's not even out yet, and I don't believe a developer would announce which firmware it will be using prior to release.

How is skyrim listed as a working game? I don't believe a developer would release which firmware it will work on prior to the game coming out. And it most definitely  is not out yet.

What's the point of this new jailbreak anyway? It's purely for piracy, not convenient, expensive (bd-r disks) and you have to downgrade your console with a chip. I can't understand how someone would go through all this just to avoid paying for the game.

Considering Skyrim for Xbox 360 is already available for download online (can't say where due to this sites anti-piracy beliefs.. google search should locate it regardless).. its not a far fetch to believe they could have got their hands on the PS3 copy.

because 25gb bd-r's are under $1 in quanity (vs. $50-100 for originals, and I don't care about a pretty box). Even cheaper than hard drives that have tripled in price in the past few weeks. And vast majority of games are <20gb (maybe 5% will require $8 50gb disks). Go ahead and blow thousands if you want for a few dozen games, I'll spend about $1000 and get the entire ps3 library.

honestly i woudlnt waste your time buying this, this is no different to all the other dongles.

sony will simply block this with a fw update and your screwed.

youve just rushed out to buy a BD burner and got some discs and for only a small handfull of games.

should do what i did, keep a 3.55 ps3 for "backups" and new games that cant be done buy them or wait a few weeks and you can get it cheap enough.

you feckin dirty pirate scum
