Rumour: New PS3 Jailbreak!

The PlayStation 3 has once again been blown open, thats right. For all you hacking fans out there that were enjoying their PS3 with all its capabilities thanks to a little jail breaking, until Sony killed the fun, you must no longer worry. Recent reports have indicated that yet again the PlayStation 3 as circum to a new form of jailbreak, once again leaving the console wide open. What is it? Its been titled JB2 and Digital Foundry has stated what the device is exactly, to put it simply, it is a USB dongle and nothing more. The dongle plugs straight into the PlayStation's USB slot and easily bypasses the implemented security measures set in place on the system. The jail break allows users to mock Sony whilst having features on their system from developer consoles, as well as the ability to install illegal or copied code. Unfortunately unlike previous hacks, this one doesnt allow the use of running pirated games directly from the hard drive or external hard drive; instead it has means of running pirated/burned Blu-Ray discs so the PlayStation reads them as authentic. Dont get your hopes up yet though, all the information that has been gathered about this small yet powerful device cant be truly confirmed as the only sources come in the form of internet videos and pure speculation. Yet further reports do suggest that some testing of the devices has been done in Indonesia with success, running games such as God of War Collection, FIFA 12 and PES 2012. I would love to play fifa 12 on my console. I think there is a way to do it without the whole dongle thing. I don't know the exact method but it involves swapping files from the fifa 11 game. Either way I'm there is a way that we could just incorporate the code into the cfw that we already have now.

If this works and it seems Sony has a hard time blocking it, I hope we'll see some drive emulators like the ones that are popping up on the 360, would be alot more cost effective.

I think they just successful patch these games with FW 3.55. I will not buy this, be patient it will be free, if it is true.

seems like there is a new dongle every day round here dont see the point anymore in ps3 hacks as its been pretty much cut off whats needed is some fresh tallent to take over now and work on a more usefull hack/mod as cant see people keep wanting to buy dongles.

It doesn't make sense, it seems it only works on 3.55 FW? If so why bother you can just install CFW 3.55 and install games for free from torrents or copy them and play. If be kinda worth it if you can use it in any FW specially current 3.73 by then it be just purchasing a Blu ray Burner and some disc. But with the limited available games able to play its pointless and waste of money

top guys these devices are pontless, sony will simply block it again in a future fw, so stop wasting your "hard earned cash" on these pointless devices, if you want a CFW then stick with it, if you want to play games then go buy a 2nd ps3 and buy the new games.

Don't buy the dongles. i bought it for 3.41 and 2- weeks later it came out to download as PUP file. and when this comes to a hackers hand it will help them probably do a version that will be able to play from external drive.

Good Point mate but it's always good to have a cfw that keeps the user up to date with running 3.60+

I'm sure the solution to all this will be a modchip. It's the only way to run two firmwares at once at the moment.

Well, true it only works on CFW 3.55, but it's not just for playing the same games as you would on CFW 3.55. This, apparently, allows the playing of a few games that "require" OFW 3.56+. So, it's actually the "start" of hacking the PS3 for newer firmwares. I think it's small progress, but progress nonetheless. That is, if it is in fact real. Which, personally i'm not willing to spend $45 to find out... lol. I'd rather not use my Blue-ray drive, and just play everything off of a HDD. So as to save my BR Drive.
