Rogero CEX 4.30 v2.05 Available

The Rogero custom firmware certainly didn't have the easiest entry into the 4.XX scene with some very early brick reports, but it's clear that that base formula has been added to and improved upon significantly over the past couple of months. A mere two days ago, we saw the introduction of a new iPF that takes into account some of the work done by other scene favorites to bring back the ever popular Install Package Files folder that was so crucial to the success of earlier CFWs.

Today, that same developer is back to expand on that new IPF with another one that has officially been dubbed Toolbox. Essentially what this does is takes all of the other IPFs from the likes of deank and Szalay and brings them into a single entry in an effort to condense the onslaught of tools you now have at your disposal. For now, each individual option you have to choose from to install has also been updated to the latest version which is a nice touch. On top of this, full Cinivia removal has been achieved too with some help from the folks over at Rebug. That means you'll be able to stream all the movies you want without getting that god-awful copyright error. If you're a Rogero user now, this CFW is definitely worth your time.

No word on that yet. In all honesty it seems kind of like the scene is okay with the way things are now. hardware flashing isn't exactly impossible which means almost anyone can get to CFW. It would be nice to do it through software but I think Sony has done a pretty good job patching holes up.

the ability to not have to format a drive when you insert it into the ps3. my phat died, and I dont want to lose anything. It needs a re balling, but I dont know where to get that done... :S

Maybe back up all your stuff if you can and send it off to Sony? Sometimes if you beg hard enough they'll do a goodwill warranty repair for free. Don't suggest it though, see if they do it themselves.

If you're on Sony official 4.30 then you need to buy a hardware flasher that works with your system and downgrade it. It takes some work but if you're ok with hardware it's not too bad. Check out the guide here.

I have 2 ps3 and one needs progskeet and the other one e3 flasher. It would cost me a lot to downgrade both to install cfw.
(Probably about 120 euro = $160 usd)
I hope someone can release a cfw which we can install through ofw 4.31

Btw i thought now that we have the lv0 keys we can do that?
Or what are these keys good for anyways?

Lv0 keys don't really do much to make new jailbreaks for OFW. They just make decrypting firmwares easier for people already on CFW. Basically if you have CFW now, you'll pretty much able to have the latest OFW features pretty soon after they come out.

The rest of us though have to wait for an actual exploit to be found in OFW, which doesn't have super crazy demand and is also difficult to do.

Just a quick question, I'm already JB with Rogero 4.30, can I simply flash this version over the current version? Or is there another way?

I believe you can, but don't quote me on it. I would almost assume so but I don't wanna give you incorrect info. I'm on OFW 4.31 so unfortunately I'm kinda stuck to help. :-(

Pretty sure you need to downgrade to 3.55 or 3.7 before moving up again. Flashing over existing cfw's doesn't work AFAIK for the new cfw's.

if you are in a lower version of rogero cfw 4.30 V xx, you can update direct to this one, no ned to downgrade, you have two ways to update from the xmb, and from the recovery menu, the more secure way is the recovery menu.
