One more thing - his payload is messed up and dangerous. Just read KaKaRoTo's post on PS3News. He explains the whole thing.
I say good riddance to Hermes. We don't need people like him here.

Note to Hermes. Thanks for all your hard work and time. You have been a great asset to the scene. You will be truly missed. I honestly hope things work out and one day you’ll return to do more great things. Stay safe my friend and live a long fruitful life.

They just released v4 which looks promising.
Sure PL3 seems good too but why complain when this person is giving something useful to the community.
Saying this payload could brick systems is going a little overboard don't you think??

it's really sad that the leechers and some of the people in the scene are acting in this manner, it's downright pathetic. hermes was a great contributor to the scene. look what he did for the wii scene. in my mind hermes will always be one of the great pioneers that blazed the trails of the ps3 scene.
gratitude is a lost art form these days. talk about kickin' a guy when he's down. you people take the cake!!
hermes.....thank you for everything. your work far exceeded what we could have accomplished without you in this infant stage we in the ps3 scene are in right now. you have taken us to great heights. you will be greatly missed my friend.

It's a lot easier to say "F you guys, I'm mad at you," than it is to say, "I don't know if I can be successful in future ps3 hacks."

they have the same case and packaging, xept ps3break is blue while psgroove hermes is red.

Hermes was great on the Wii scene, true legend.

Anyway, Hermes is a legend on the Wii scene, perhaps he will go back to that. I personally think the PS3 scene is coming to an abrupt end.
I would expect to see less updates on this site as the newer games come out that only work with 3.42+, Hermes is out, Christmas is coming and I think by then if 3.42+ is not hacked it won't ever be for a very long time. How long before people think "I want to play online with my new game I got for Crimbo", while all their mates are raving about it?
I'll give it another 2 weeks tops, no hack for 3.42+ and I'll jump ship and my usb minimus 16mhz can go to the highest bidder.
Peace out. Mr. Nice Guy.

I love the homebrew, thats what I'm interested in right now. Never had a PSP so can't talk for that, but the Wii is off the chart for apps, homebrew scene is amazing and yeah, there are the pirated games options, but thats not what it's about all the time. Hermes and Waninkoko are leaders in their field on the Wii, both working really hard and I've not heard of people shitting on their work, maybe that is why they are going. I can't believe something as simple as stolen code would piss someone off as much to leave the scene?
I've thought about losing the minimus up to two weeks ago coz I strongly believe this is not going anywhere with updated games (yeah I know they did this on the Wii and there was a workaround so it may happen), updated firmware etc, etc.
Jimbones, I'm gonna give it 3 months then I'm gone.

Maybe someone is waiting in the sidelines waiting for Hermes to leave and then come on board, but who knows, Hermes was a legend and is a legend despite people dissing his code, it works and it works to what you want to use it for.
So people who diss his code I say "take out your ps3 dongle, forget about Hermes, Geohot and all the other coders, get yourself *coding for dummies* and you go work out how to hack the ps3"
My guess is we won't get much out of you for a very, very, very long time. So appreciate the work of the coders and don't shout so much.

regardless, change your name and start a new name talking shit about yourself and the chinky greed mongers that poisoned your greatness.
i used to think that the beady-eyed ppl were greedy, but they aren't, Chinese take the cake for the greediest ppl on earth hands down.
most chinese businesses are actually more scams than anything, i'm not trying to say that americans are any better, i'm just saying the china scams don't care how it appears, they just see falling money, americans on the other hand make things appear less like a scam and more legitimate, you know, aesthetically pleasing

I guess Hermes has left out something out. Swiftly reverted back to previous PSGroove w/ Hermes v3 + Retail Package Support + Fix for Game Updates *Updated*
Works fine...
Anybody else experencing the same problem?

I've compiled the PS3ToolChain and was able to compile the KaKaRoTo-version too. But in my opinion this KaKa-branch ist absolutely unuseable and unstable (often crashes when leaving the Gaia-Manager or even during bootup - "sometimes" it works, but that makes no fun at all).
Could someone please help me out and give me a hint so that I can compile my own AT90USB1287-16MhZ-HEX?

I sending everyone a message here : Imagine that to Owner's of the PS3 makes a compatible usb device for selling and put the name of the coder on their products to make this coder leave the scene... I would re-think twice before quitting. Because people might be tempted to use the same strategy later on to make some other coders leave the scene...Way too easy!

compilation errors like:
…/ps3dev/ppu/bin/ppu-gcc -c port1_config_descrip tor.S -o port1_config_descrip tor.o
port1_config_descrip tor.S: Assembler messages:
port1_config_descrip tor.S:233: Warning: left operand is a bignum; integer 0 assumed
...
port1_config_descrip tor.S:238: Error: reloc 1 not supported by object file format
Can be avoided by replacing #define QUAD_ABS(addres s) .quad 0x8000000000000 000 + BASE + address
with:
#define QUAD_ABS(addres s) \
.long 0x80000000; \
.long BASE + address;
Blame Kakaroto for the solution
// HACK ALERT: the open toolchain bugs during compilation when trying to add
// a 'bignum' with address or MEM_BASE1.. so we split it here into two .long
// makes it easy since PPC is big endian.

I have a ps3break on order, again, will I have to wait for updates specific for that device, or can I just somehow implement the desired things (such as hermes 4?)
Can someone not only answer these questions, but point me in the direction of some resources to figure this stuff out? Thanks.

I prefer compiling it for my own but maybe I'll have to wait for a AT90USB1287-16MHz-image compiled by someone else...
But thanks - it's always worth trying.
