PSFreedom PL3 for iPhone 2G/3G and iPod Touch 1G

I used winscp and opened both files and changed the permissions to 777. However I get the 80029519 error. So I think my timing is off or something? I usually leave my slim unplugged until I see the penguin (I guess the penguin was replaced) then power eject when I see the init and then unplug the iphone when it stops. But this is totally different, any ideas?

just launch it, after the logo with the Droid robot, it do something and stop... At this time, just push the PS3 start button then eject... works fine for me
but with "Gaia rc9", i can't load my backup games without a DVD in it...

Ive been looking all day it sucks. I don't think we will have this for a while since you need 3.50 to download. I hope it get leaked out there soon. It's been 1 day and I miss it already. I might even update :(

Im following the instructions (coping, the android.img.gz file to the macFroyo folder) however, during the loading firmware my 3G keeps saying "could'nt get firmware, trying again..."
Is there anything im doing wrong?

Can't load any backups without there being a disc in the drive. Other than that, it works...

i think some games just work better in the old mode with the disc in.

they should make something similar to patched mode where you can just switch between disc and disc-less modes if some game aint working right

i havent tested updates yet or psn pkgs

but i cant play nhl 11 (black screen) and if i try to update, when i press x on 'ok' it just freezes the ps3 :(

No joy here either. Similar to v3 payload experience for 1G Touch, however i was able to get Batman Arkham Asylum to work without a disk but nothing else. Tried both Open Manager 1.17.1 and the RC9 of Gaia with direct boot option and still not too promising for me.

Went back to first 1G iPod (pre-V3) payload and OpenManager 1.16, and everthing is working great again with disc in drive still.

Thanks for the effort though!

does the old back up manager works?when I use gaia or open manager and the game dont play w/out the disc,can we use the backup manager so that we can play the games even when it needs disc...last hermes v3 didnt worked for some of us iphone/ipod user and still stuck on the original psgroove/freedom...its cool though coz everything works!LOL

Look if u guys are having problems all of u need to go back to the basic. This payload works for every games. I only had problems with f1. And the only problem with f1 was no controller support. If u put NBA 2k11 on your internal hard drive and run with Gaia rc7 or above and in mem patch mode it work. Plus stop complaining. Tried to do some problem solving first. Look u all are lucky cause Jb wasn't made so u can play pirated games. It was for homebrew. The only reason they are fixing these issues so u can play games that u bought.

pl3 is a new payload (code sent to the ps3) that allows the installation of GAME updates (NOT system ones) and retail .pkg (aka apps and games that are sold in the psn store). It requires the gaia manager rc6 or later in order to work, because it doesn't work with the backup manager anymore.

not working for me... when i get in to the ps3 i can se the app home folder and the programs i have already installed but when i try to start them it gives me an error 8xxxxx something...
Tryed maby 10 times but no luck...

any one like to share there "metod" for the 3g?

whit the erlyer port i have seen the init then when the last line showed up i pulled the cable from the iphone it always started for me like that.

I always pull the iphone 2g cable as soon as i see the last lines (5-7 full lines where it usually stops) and put the cable right back in the iphone and it starts giving me no errors (ps3 slim 320gb)

gaia manager does not work for me! Open Manager 1.71 works perfect though! all game so far running perfect...:) except the new ones but that's alright

no it doesnt work on all games w/out a disc!it updates though!tried bad co 2 w/out disc it starts but the screen is off and then it hangs on the loading screen..red dead redemption black screen then crashes its annoying so i stopped testing other games coz it crashes and ill have to repeat the whole process again..cant even do the right timing!oh and I have 20 games that I bought so dont give me that you ungreatful pirate dude stuff!It works w/ disc inserted though and updates my bad co.2 copy but still the no disc is a NO GO!

Opem manager 1.3 with the first playload for iphone is the best version !!! I don't know why they keep pushing the same button, all the new updates (open manager and hermes's playload) bring to you only one thing, a lot of games that doesn't work.

Tried this now and is amazing. the timing is so much easier that with the original payload from NTAuthority.

Great work was starting the thing the ipod/phone ports may be left behind for good due to the lack of updates. much appreciated guys

This depends on the iphodroid and the idroid develoment for those models. Keep checking their websites.

CAN SOMEONE PLZ HELP !!
Im kinda new to the whole hack scene. I've bin using the 1st PSFreedom for the iPhone 3g. Followed the instructions to change it to this one (FTP into the device, replace old droid.img with this one) but i cant get the PS3 to boot into the hack now. Im still booting the same way, wait till i see the Linux penquin and then hit power then eject, but everytime i do it wont boot into the hack. ANY HELP WOULD BE HUGELY APPRECIATED !!!!

This is the best release yet. Every last game i get is booting one way or another...F1 , Mortal Kombat versus dc is working perfectly and even golden axe beast rider is booting.

If it helps anyone I think I had some problems using the package from this site, think it might have been the looking for zephyr2.bin message... but the one I downloaded from here: http://psfreedom.com/wiki/IPho... worked fine.

First off I uninstalled the old version from my iphone 3g. Then downloaded the 'quick installation' package from the psfreedom wiki page and also the pl3 payload in the additional files section.

Then extract the quick installation package on the pc and overwrite the files in the Resources\iPhoD roid_image folder with the 2 files from the pl3 download.

Then plug in the phone and run iPhoDroid to copy it all across. After that, plug it into the ps3 and choose the Install option from the boot menu (only for the first time, any time after just choose the android icon).

This version, for me anyway gets as far as displaying “register driver returned 0". I just hit power and eject at this point and it boots up ok.

Backup manager and open manager dont work for me now but Gaia manager works and ive installed 1 psn package fine so I think its ok..... Hope that helps anyone... :)

It's unlikely as the change to bootrom in firmware 4.1 and above apparently blocks some sort of USB controller needed for the ipeniboot exploit. But as 1g and 3g don't need shsh blobs you can downgrade them. If your on 3gs or iphone 4 then ya not gonna get openiboot or iphodroid i think and so no ps3 hack... I forsee 3g and 2g iphones becoming a valuable ebay commodity

well i use a wired method. Google the program iphone explorer......install it. Then go into cydia and search afc2add and install it. Start up iphone explorer and select the root.....the 2 files that need replacing will be in the var folder. Winscp is an alternate method that allows you wireless access.

Ok, first off, THANK YOU for the help !! ... so i've done that, but now when it boots up the hack on the iphone, the text runs across the screen, then says "...done" but no Linux Penquin screen ? am i doing something wrong ?? is there something different you have to do when booting with this hack then the other older one ?? before you'd turn your PS3 off, plug the iphone in and turn ur PS3 back on (Main power on the back). Then run the hack and once the text stopped and the Linux Penquin showed up, hit the power button then the eject button, but im guessing theres something i'll have to do different now ??? PlZ Help !

i see.....its not loading the image at all. try setting the permissions to 777.....also make sure the files are in the correct folder.

im having the same problem.....i set permissions to 777 on the 5 files that are installed when i install the hack. i use Iphdroid to install and then copy zimage+android.img and double checked that they ws both 777 still. ive used firezilla+winsx p and niether work. Ill try the iphone broswer app when my gf gets home as she is the one with the phone since i have a 3gs :(

any other ideas as to how to get this to work would be awesome....im on windows vista

@EMANON36 - I dont know if it will work for sure, but i got it to work by copying the entire original iphdroid folder, then replacing the android.img and zImage files in the Recources folder with the ones for this hack, deleted the hack completely out of my phone, then ran the iphdroid exploit again. You need to move the original iphdroid folder off C: Drive tho. I cant start any games without a disc, but my game updates work. Although i was just playing my backup of Mafia II, and for some reason in the middle of gameplay, it will not save or load any game save data. Dont kno if it has anything to do with this hack or not, reguardless - give those steps a try and see if it works for u !

To everyone here:
I am an iPhone user for the jailbreak and have followed the updates since the first one came out, which worked great, the second update didn´t quite worked so went back to the first and yesterday I updated to this 3rd version. It worked great, at least with SSF IV with 2 controllers. I will test more games today since it was a long SSF IV session.
1.- Downloaded this file, unizpped both files
2.- Connected iPhone to computer and opened up iPhone Explorer (or iFunBox or same as SSH wirelessly)and on the /private/var renamed the original android.img.gz and zimage to another thing (just to have the backup in case of a rollback)
3.- placed the new, downloaded android.img.gz and zimage
4.- turned off the phone, restarted and opened android
5.- wait for PSSFreedom to boot
6.- ???
7.- PROFIT!

Strange thing, I didn't noticed the INIT scrolling thing, just a new Android image on the top left side and some writings telling PSFreedom was ready (Or some shit like that).
Thing is: just wait for the iPhone to stop working and showing commands and turn off PS3 and within .2 secconds press the eject button.

Will update if encountered any problem.

screwed up in the last part, but you know the drill:
with no disc inside: power off from the switch, power on, turn on PS3, within .2 seconds press eject once, and wait for the magic to happen.

Used a fat ps3, with Gaia Manager v1 (no RCs).
Fully working no disc support.

(LOL@Gaia Manager, makes me think of the Titan in GOW3, and her severed hand LOL!)

hey guys, when i put this update in the VAR folder on my iPhone, it jailbreaks my PS3 but none of my games work. I click on Open Manager, see the game and click X to launch (takes me back to dashboard) but i get no option to start the game. Secondly when i put a disc in the drive, the actual game disc loads and not the pre loaded game i selected from Open Manager. Any ideas?
