PS3Merge v1.0 Released

Submitted by greg; February 18, 2011

From splitting to merging -- do it all with Karmian and two tools: PS3Splitter, still at version 1.1.5.1, and the newly introduced PS3Merge, sitting fresh at version 1.0. Both are for Windows and are generally used for 4GB+-sized files, to you know ... get around FAT32 limitations.

Several backup managers incorporate a means of handling split files; files split using PS3Splitter are compatible with those. Update: Are you a Mac user? Need to split 4GB+ files? Watch this:

After u have all your files downloaded view anyone in your download box and right click and "view the container". that will show you the location of your files on your pc. Now make sure they are all viewable in alphabetical order. Click the first one (it will open just close it) then the last one and by holding down the shift key. Then when they are all highlighted extract them to your external HD. Overwrite the same files. Name your file so you can see which ones by name. like 89009-[Need for Speed] Make sure they are placed in the "GAMES" sub directory so the PS3 see it using multiman or "GAMEZ" if you using another manager. Enjoy!

The difference is that kmeaw is compatible with almost all jailbreak programs.

its a WINDOWS APLICATION it splits and merges big files
your backup manager needs to support big files for this to work
multiman should work (if supported on your firmware)
i played star ocean which has a 22.2 GB file on wannikoko (the risky one)
but my DVD play back was a problem so i updated to Kmeaw when it came out

jailbreak programs...
you either mean custom firmware (that's the jail break)
or homebrew (the home-made games and apps)

the file(s) doesn't seem to merging, how this thing exactly work ? ( i did split them with ps3splitter beforehand )

Edit : nvm you need to place the option to merge the files in the same directory ( why does he even bother to create the 2nd options just fot copying )

Edit2 : it says not enough disk space and the file stopped at 4.1 gb even when i have plenty of free space left, am i missing something ?

You must still be trying to copy across a file that is over 4GB, are you sure you didnt leave the original file over 4GB in the directory? You should copy the game with the split files to an external and then copy them to the internal using Multiman or whatever manager you're using. When you do that it joins the files back together as the filesystem the PS3 uses supports files over 4GB but FAT32 doesn't ;)

February 26th,
For all the Mac users out there, use the program mentioned above MacHacha to join files as well. file > alphajoin. It will ask you to choose the first file to join, so click the 'whateverfilenam e'.66600. then it will ask you what you want the created file name to be, leave it at what the program chooses.

Cheers
