PS3Jig v1.00 Released - Factory/Service Mode via PSP!

Brandon W has just dropped PS3Jig, which puts your PS3 into Factory/Service mode by using your PSP. From there you're able to downgrade should your PS3 be an appropriate firmware version (3.55 or earlier). PS3Jig v1.00 installs on the PSP like any other homebrew -- install it, connect the two devices (via USB), run it, then power-up the PS3. Voila! You're in Factory/Service mode. But! Know this before you do anything: DO NOT USE "PS3Jig" ON PS3 FIRMWARE 3.56! YOU WILL GET STUCK IN FACTORY/SERVICE MODE INDEFINITELY.

well what psp FW you try it on? the guy said he tested it on 5.50 Gen but says "should" work with others but doesnt mean it well. I'd try other CFW's cuz doesnt always work for everybody. I know 5. m33 worked for me and i tryed Gen after that and had no luck with that intel after the 3rd update of Gen before i got my games to work.

With this program no. You cannot play anyback ups. If you downgrade your firmware to 3.41 or below yes your beable to play backups. This program only puts you into recovery mode. Ihave gotten my ps3 out of a semi bricked /brick a couple of times hoeever only on slim versions.

#1 if it just turns on and does nothing. turn off power from ps3 a couple of times, the recovery system hopefully kicks in..

#2 Ps3 turns on but shuts off- try to use the lv2(FROM THE DOWNGRADE FILES,NOT THE LV2 FIX TO PLAY PS3 GAMES!!!!!!) uSE THE LV2 FILE TO HOPEFULLY kick the ps3 out of service mode BLACK SCREEN.

#3 use the lv1 file WITH THE ofm(FROM THE DOWNGRADE FILES!!!!!!)AND RE INSTALL THE OFFICIAL PS3 FIRMWARE (THE SAME ONE U SCREWED UP ON). sOMETIMES THE PS3 IS "LOOKING FOR WHAT EVER IT NEEDS ON THE "BLACK sCREEN".Hope this helps out for many of u.... and again let the ps3 have at least 7mins befor shutting off,if somethings not working....

Ok. My PS3 refuses to boot in factory/ service mode. Any ideas? You just plug it in make sure the PS3 is all the way off. Then activate the program on the PSP then turn on the PS3. Am I missing something? I have tried the quickly hit the eject button after you hit the power button loads of times.

Well, just for everyone's info I went through the trouble of downgrading my PSP 2000 to 5.03 HEN and no dice, it works as it seemingly sends the jig challenge and responses properly but the system never enters service mode. I get my XMB, which I suppose is a lot better than nothing and a bricked machine

i run the homebrew, then i install rogero manager v8.0 but it doesnt run any games, so then i put a little kniffe in the usb driver and i said: come on s.o.a.b. run this motha##### game; and voilaa'! now my ps3 run black ups, gt5, pokemon yellow, and all the other games i have.

it does work all you have to do is:

1. put files on psp.

2. turn the ps3 off by the wall so there is no life in the ps3.

3. connect the ps3 and psp together using a usb cable and run the ps3jig on the psp.

4. turn on the ps3 by the wall so the red light shows THEN WAIT FOR 3 SECONDS then turn the ps3 on and hit the eject button strait after.

5. your ps3 will turn itself off then just turn it on and your ps3 should take a maximum of 20 seconds to come on then your in service mode :)

if you want to get out of service mode just get a file named Lv2diag.self (included in the download) put it on a memory stick ON ITS OWN then put it in you ps3 then restart the ps3.

I've just noticed I can't play backup games with a disc inside, I just found out last nyt when I was done watching pocahontas and avatar.....
This is a good homebrew but I want more psp and ps3 working together...
I tried the knife and hammer stuff but it's not working, then it hit me I tried a butter knife w/ butter and it works like a charm but the blu-ray playback doesn't work help....

hi all i have been viewing these forums for quite some time thanks for that you know who you are : )

i have run the eboot from psp/game/
now i dont have a blu-ray drive in the ps3 and have been using the blu ray disk bypass firmware currently on geohot 3.55 : )
how it failed for ps3 80gb
1.switch off the ps3 on back
2.plug in psp via usb.
3.run program at psp/game/ps3jig
4.switch on ps3 @ back
5.power on and eject ... (psp runs commands and returns good signs)
6.ps3 boots as per normal aka no service mode

is this because i have no blu-ray drive ...
also is there a way to run games without the ps3 trying to read from the non existant blu ray drive?
i know google is there but it would save me time and id really appreciate the help

I've found if you want to play black ops you have to run a bath, then turn your ps3 off at the wall, then submerge it and get in the bath with the ps3, put a butter knife in your mouth and then plug it back into the wall while you're in the bath.
it might feel funny but it totally works.
it also helps if you're covered in butter, not sure why.

yea i did mine 3 times, first did it as it says on the net and lasted 20 mins, second same as, third time i heated the board for twice as long and left it completely still untill it was cold, put it back together and have been bashing it 6/7 hours a day for the past two weeks. working like a dream untill this morning when Sony added that dam patch, (pricks)no more psn gaming for me for a while ,,,,,,,

So, couldn't we use this as a ''magic stick and pandora'' for the system? I try most firmware on my PSP and then switch back, alot. This Jig has the same function, right? Could I try one of these signed CFW and go back to 3.55 if I don't like it? I hope a knowledgeable person will answer my Q. I just got my slim on 3.50 a couple weeks ago. I really only play GTA IV and Reddead. I would like to know more. I am late on the PS3 scene.

u can get rid of the cfw but updateing angan with the 3.55ofw u will not need this and do not try this as your slim can not go to ofw 3.41 and it came with 3.50 and is locked and u will get a big epic fail

Will this work on a patched kmeaw 3.55 that bricked after the 3.41 downgrade? I had it software jailbroke, no dongle yet, just curious if I can get cecha01 back into any mode at all at this point. I saw a patch somewhere to fix whatever got zeroed out, though I don't know where. should I just try to get 3.55 running again and ofw 1st or cfw? I really want 3.15 personally, screw psn at this point. Do I have to dump and flash the nand to fix or have we a solid workaround yet?

I do everything right.... I boot up my psp, connect to ps3 via right port, power then eject, it says it challenges and does everything right.... But my ps3 just boots to XMB, I have looked ALL over the internet to try and find a method of getting into the slim's service mode. But its all the same, power then eject. It doesn't work, how do I make it work? :/

I'm on 3.56 at the moment, but i'm just wondering if you try to downgrade to 3.55 or 3.41 why can't you just use the Lv2diag file to get out of factory service mode because once you downgrade you're now on the fw that works with the file?

Late as hell, I know. All you have to do is flash OFW 3.55, then flash a CFW (just to make sure there's no issues). If you want to switch CFW, put the PS3 into the Recovery Mode, flash OFW 3.55 again, let it reboot, flash the new CFW. Using this method, ALL firmware must be version 3.55. I haven't tried this Wanikanko's firmware, but I have tested it switching between Geohot to Kmeaw on my 80GB phat (launch model, limited edition).

The easiest way i found to play working backups was to sell the PS3 slim and get a 360 and instal CFW straight to the drive and away i go. everytime MS update C4Eva counters and away we go again.......
