PS3JB89 v0.01 Released; PSGroove for the TI-89 Titanium

Submitted by greg; October 31, 2010

Brandon is back with another PSGroove port for another calculator. Break out the TI-89 Titanium -- we're not graphing today, we're hacking the PS3. It's very similar to that of PSGroove for the TI-84+. External payloads are stored and loaded as "PAYL" files, and different firmwares are supported (up to 3.41) by different "firmware compatibility files." Refer to readme.txt to get started.
PS3JB89 v0.01 Features:
  • Current status is displayed at the bottom of the LCD. You can tell exactly what step it's failing on and take action based on it.
  • The program has several configurable options to change the way the jailbreak works. These options are stored in a custom "CONF" file called "ps3jbopt", which can be archived to keep it from RAM resets.
  • External payload files are supported. This means you don't have to re-compile the program to use a payload different from the built-in one. These payloads are stored as custom "PAYL" files and are selected through PS3JB89's options menu: You can specify an external payload file by transferring it to your calculator and then entering its filename in the "Stage 1" field, or you can press [2nd]+[-] to bring up the "VAR-LINK" menu and select the file. To convert from a binary file containing the payload data to a custom "PAYL" file, read this.
  • Other firmware versions below 3.41 are supported through the use of "firmware compatibility files", which are external files that override specific behavior in the jailbreak to make it function under different firmware versions.
Select a compatibility file appropriate for your firmware version along with a payload appropriate for your version and you can now use the jailbreak on 3.01, 3.15, and potentially others (below 3.41). A basic list of these compatibility files as well as their format (for creating your own) can be found here.
  • The connection of device 6 during the jailbreak can be enabled/disabled in the options. This is disabled by default, and useful with older payloads that still use device 6. If you don't know what to do with it, leave it alone.

the Plain TI-89 he is referring to is probably the first TI-89 released which has a standard TI-connect cable (not USB), i had one of those in high school about 9 years ago (damn, can't believe this calculator has been around that long and STILL over $100

Can you fully un-jailbreak the ps3 after you have jailbroken it - for the reason that I might want to update psn without getting banned?

Is there a way to port Hermes 4b to the TI-89 Titanium? I used this and it works but It doesn't work with open manager.

Thanks Yez. I found the Hermes v4b payload. THanks, but now I see to use the different payload I need FWC file. I am looking for a 3.41 one I guess, since im on 3.41. I though I had the file "PSEJB341.8xk" but I tried copying it to the calculator and I kept getting an error. Thanks for your help.

This by default doesn't support a backup manager. That's where the payloads come in :D and that's where I am lost :D

As long as you don't get banned while jailbroken, all you need to do is simply turn on your PS3 w/o the jailbreak and there won't be any traces of it.

Hi! Do you know if they make any plugins to help with SEO? I'm trying to get my blog to rank for some targeted keywords but I'm not seeing very good gains. If you know of any please share. Thanks!
