PS3 Save Unlocker Released

Let me play out a little scenario for you: I have a game, you have the same game; however, I really suck at whatever game and I want your save because you're way better than me, plus maybe you've unlocked stuff that I've missed. Whatever the case you happily oblige giving up your save; I download and install it only to realize, "dammit, your save doesn't work for me on my system!" That's when ColdReader's PS3 Save Unlocker comes into the picture.

I pull the PARAM.SFO from my save and also from yours. I load up PS3 Save Unlocker (Windows) and input the two -- mine on the left, yours on the right -- and then generated is a new PARAM.SFO that I'll use to replace the original PARAM.SFO in your save. N2KBasis, who emailed this in, mentions it isn't perfect but it works. I suspect mixing different regions of the same game won't work ... but maybe I'm wrong. Hey, I did not try this app yet but for those that are asking about GT5... You have to find a gamesave (google/bing) and download it... then you have to FTP into your PS3... FIND YOUR GAMESAVE

Now FTP the files GT5 and SFO into the PS3 and boot your game. I tested with original game boot and boot through internal HDD. I now have lots of cars and credits!! jejeje

I dont know if this applies to other games as I wanted this for GT5, I usually play all my games so I have not tried to do it for other games... This release look alot easier than FTP'ing into my PS3... YOU GO DEVS!!! BRING IT

I tried this on my friends ps3 and i do not know much about it at the moment but what i do know it sounds like a brick.
After i tried all i get now is a red screen on boot up.
Any way to fix this?

Do what i did and get one of those ps3 max drives, It was kinda expensive for me at the time cuz well... i got tired of getting an hdd and it didnt work on my ps3 so i got this one already up and ready to work on mine console. It lets you save pretty much everything on it. Even comes with some cool PC software

Love how people argue over mac and windows when really both are horrible operating systems running on the same hardware. Remember when Mac went to intel, yeah, cuz they're old hardware sucked. Windows has been on the hardware longer, and you get the same hardware for cheaper when you buy a windows box, however, windows sucks too. Err, I'm playing FF13 from someone else's save. CBF taking HEAPS of time to finish it, I got a savegame from gamefaqs of at 'stage 3' or something, 999,999,999 of energy (crystal-whatever) and gil/money. So I get to see most of the game, quick as possible by buffing to best asap, saves a lot of time.

Just in the /home/0001/savedata/mrt(rest that was FF13), hope you get the idea, it's all from memory atm, I copied the param.pfd and a .app file to overwrite the 2 out of 5 files there.

Booted FF13, loaded game just like it was my save game. You could have been playing FF13 soon as you jailbroke it and learnt FTP :) I did this from my own copying and no reading of web pages, just guessed the 2 files as originally when I copied over all 5 it said "Another person's save, you can't save blah blah"

So did the 2 files I guessed would be the data (I knew .pfd was one of them from older research) and it worked :)

Been able to ftp gt5 save game for a few weeks/months, I did it a while ago to 'catch up' to my savegame I lost when I downgraded from 3.50 to 3.41 for jailbreak and then when kmeaw came out, I played gt5 with a savegame I ftp'ed over (don't copy all 5 files over the savedata, it's only 2 or 3 files from memory, did it ages ago I forget sorry)

But it has been possible to play gt5 soon as 3.50 was jb'ed :) Just have to realise savegame directory in 'home' on the dev_hdd0 directory is abled to be altered/copied over.

For people having trouble, just download savegames from gamefaqs.com then do a little research to learn how to FTP the save game files (not all 5, usually 2 or 3 depending on the game) over the 'savegame' data on the HDD. Fairly simple and it's worked on about 10-15 games for me, saved a heck of time finishing games when it's "grind like", I don't find that fun.

Look elsewhere on here, I posted how I used the (all crystal + gil) savegame from ffq to play it on my FF13 for a while now. Just manually ftp'ed 2/5 files of the savegame data over the original, worked sweet :)

Umm IGN is hosting save files alongside the cheats for ps3 games, been doing it for a while now.

Only FTP'ed the 2 files Param.PFD (not the .SFO) and the GT5.0 !!

theyre mobile devices are truly beast, i will not lie. but as for a better OS on your PC, i think windows takes it. its an all around OS and user friendly, why its so popular. as for MAC, well its morely for your visual and audio performance such as editing and gaming. they both truly have theyre own aspects as to why theyre both great OS's BUT, the main thing here is which is more compatible, which is why windows is better, it is also available with more options rather than JUST apple.

This is dumb, you guys realize if you send your save file over FTP it works - providing the param.sfo is the original and not the other users copy.

Same meathod can be used to platinum certain games like Little Big Planet 2.

Windows is plug and play and fully customisable. With Mac you can't change your graphic card and etc so it's stuck to what apple wants you to have for more money. You also need to use boot camp to do what a pc does why faking it. Linux isn't realy plug and play and if you want to bother to find drivers or to make them yourself for your hardwares well have fun Because most of us do not realy have just this to do. Yeah in the scheme of things apple did comeback from bankruptcy with there ipod {thanks to jobs}. So apple isn't really known for their computers, even though there awesome.Obviously windows still controls the market but recently macs have been making a comeback. everyone in my lectures (mostly business) has a mac, so that says something. economically speaking macs will never consume the market but i can see them taking half in the next 10 years.

oh and ubuntu is great if you like spending hours on useless stuff or its ur job. but sabayon is better.

Worked for me on Uncharted. Moved save file to my other PS3 and works great. Then I tried moving the file without this utility and it worked... lol

Around 95% of offices across the globe use Windows.

That's not going to change anytime soon as people won't retrain/change licenses. Mac's also (to the best of my knowledge) don't have any _serious_ server OS's, all their stuff is purely for end users, not geared for businesses.

Mac's are useful for graphical and sound engineers, and anyone who wants to utilise Apple specific features... As for Linux; Mac's are effectively Linux machines (composed in Unix), so it's not much of a comparison.

IMO Linux rules, but it's more for developers (as it's entirely open source).

it worked for black ops, i downloaded the save from ps3savegame dot com then used the patcher, you have to copy the save data over your original by FTP because it doesnt install you just get a corrupt data message. the save data is located in /dev_hdd0/home/00000001/savedata/
00000001 maybe different depending on how many ps3 accounts you have made!

Not true some games will read the save and load trophies. When I transferred to a bigger hard drive I had to re sync all my trophies but also when the game loaded it showed me at 0% then all the trophies start popping up. Every trophy I had previously gotten popped up all at once some games you would have to do it all over again but some games saves will unlock trophies.....

No it does not. I actually restored a backup of one PS3 to my other one making the accounts the same and it still said the account was not mine and I cannot save. All I want is the ability to move saves between 2 PS3's, otherwise having 2 serves no practical purpose.

Process I tried. Copied GOW2 save from PS3#1 to usb stick. Copied GOW2 save (new file) to another USB stick (#2). I want save file from #1 to work on #2. Loaded #2 as my parm, loaded #1 as option on the right. New file created. copied the new file overwriting the old on stick #1 and loaded it on the PS3#2. Error, file was created by another user, Trophies and saves are disabled. Maybe i am missing something?

Some people don't have time to unlock all aspects of the game. Some of us do have lives, do have to go to work, do have families to cater for, do have friends to see(real ones, not just virtual ones), do have to study, do have to leave the house, do have to go and buy food (because we're not all 40+ living with mommy and playing games all day long) and do enjoy the finer things in life.

Anybody who pays for a game should be entitled to every unlockable aspect of it. It shouldn't need to be earned by wasting a chunk of your life playing it until you can't stand it and it feels like a chore, it should be earned by paying for the game.

Ok I got the saves to work this is how I did it,

First start the game and make a save of it then download any save from the web and use ps3-save-unlocker on it.

now to get it to work you have to FTP it to your PS3 you cant use USB to import the save it will be corrupt.

The dir will be something like /dev_hdd0/home/00000001/savedata/
The 00000001 maybe different just look in it and find your game save. When you find it don't delete the folder, go back to your edited save and copy/paste the files in the save over the file in the folder on your PS3

This is pretty much useless since you can achieve the exact same thing by copying all your old savedata folder from your ps3 with a ftp manager, also useless since every game has different access points and saves differently. For instance with tales of vesperia you just have to overwrite some files ( not all ), and load the game ( it will display wrong data but it will load right at the point you saved anyway ), then save again, so the loaded data doesn't get corrupted and after saving it will display the correct info of the savefile. This is not the case with super street fighter iv, which is way more complicated since it accesses and uses savefiles differently.

not useless because when you transfer the save data threw ftp some games it will say you can't use this save data because it is owned by a different users.

I tried to use a save I download from the web and that's the message I'd get when trying on Just Cause 2 but when I use ps3-save-unlocker and then transfer threw ftp I don't get the message.

It works like a charm...just made my 30+ final fantasy XIII gamesave that i made on a friend´s PS3 work on my PS3...
Just have to do this...
Where it says your param.sfo you should actually load the param.SFO from the gamesave you want to transfer (the save made on another PS3) and in the other param.sfo you should load the param.sfo from the game save made on the console you want to play in..the program makes a new param.sfo in the same path were the program is run... then you move the new param.sfo to the downloaded gamesave (it will ask you to replace the file) then using ps3 ftp transfer the gamesave to it´s new host ps3 and it´s done.!!!
i´m not an expert but any question i´ll be glad to help with what i can, like i said it worked fine for me...

So in my spare time i tend to rinse games usually quite quickly,also i enjoy earning the trophies. I think it gives games a longer life span.

To give my save state away is fine but if it unlocks the trophies aswell...well wheres the sense of achievement, i might aswell get some game saves myself and then tell everyone how great i am i can beat 100 hours games in seconds.

You're the man. I tried a zillion ways. I was able to avoid corrption once by not overwritting. I renamed the new PARAM as "PARA". Then tested in PS3. Data was not accepted by the game. Then I inserted back to windows and removed PARAM. Only kept "PARA". When loading I got the "saved by another user" message.

HOW TO AVOID CORRUPTION ON USB!!!

1- You will need a program called "NTFS 4 DOS". I used it from Hiren's Boot CD.

2- When creating a new PARAM.SFO, DO NOT OVERWRITE. Save it somewhere else.

3- Reboot and boot with Hiren. Choose NTFS 4 DOS. Go to where you saved the new param and MOVE (do not copy) to the folder where the save you wanna use is. It will overwrite the old one. That's ok.

4- Now, load MINI WINDOWS XP that comes with the Hiren Boot CD and CUT (do not copy) the entire "PS3" folder and paste it to your USB stick.

You will be able to copy the save to your PS3 with no problems now. Worked for me. (Credits to ME).

Just tested another program on Hiren's boot cd to avoid corruption successfully. It's called "File Wizard" and it recognizes USB. Make the param overwrite inside usb and then you are ready to go.

PS: Altough I was able to copy to hdd and load my FFXIII save with no problems with USB, I still get the "created by another user" warning. I feel I'm very close to make this work. Does anyone know if I should overwrite another file (other than param.sfo)?

I´ve try it but it won´t work!? Why?

- saved the PARAM.SFO at c:\

- saved the the other Savegame at d:\

- started NTFS4DOS

typed in -> c:\move param.sfo d:\

- loaded mini xp

right click on d:\ all files -> cut and paste on a FAT32 formated USB Flash Drive

- copy to ps3 failed-> Datafile is corrupted

Your trying to say that the iphone is better than androids? Lol. I'll take a broken Droid over an iphone any day. My sister has an iphone 4 and its always messing up on her and all she does is call and text. Where my HTC inspire 4G has been semi bricked 4 or 5 times and its still rocking faster speeds on everything over my sisters phone. And to add to that, my phone is rooted and modded. The only thing apple has no anyone is video and camera specs. Other than that. Apple phones and ipods and ipads and macs all suck. The newest mac out can come near what my 2 year old computer can do and its wasn't even top class 2 years ago. :)
