PS3 Downgrade Video Tutorial

ChrisTechTV verbally and visually lays out the PS3 downgrading process for you. He's using an E3 Card Reader, but whatever your device the steps are similar. Don't read -- watch:

And if you didn't know the ol' DNS trick is currently working. Someone'll flip that switch soon though -- you know the drill. New readers: whenever a new mandatory firmware is released, this IP address (67.202.81.137) is usually available to use, for a short while anyway, which will bypass any PSN firmware checks. You'll be able to enjoy PSN for a day or two longer. Watch the DNS video tutorial here.

DNS bypass doesn't work anymore. I just tried cause I wanted to redownload all my DLC I lost when I moved from my old YLOD console to this one. It let me get my PSN ID back and I had to verify with my CC but then when it took me to actually sign it it says update available. Bummer. Maybe I'll be quicker on the next FW update.

Great video. Looks like this device has to be the easiest one out there. Programming it cannot be easier as it seems you don't have to go through the effort of actually programming it.... rather, just copying file to it.

One question if you're monitoring the thread. Recently there's been a report that playing bluray movies no longer functions after a downgrade. Is that the case using the E3 downgrade?

i am in factory mode but when the system is off i put the usb with only the ps3updat.pup and Lv2diag.self from file one and start the system upp it doesnt hang at a blue or black screen the ps3 starts like normal. Please help

are you turning it off thru the menu and as soon as it turns off take the first usb out put in usb flash drive with nothing but the pup and .self file on it then turning it on and in that order too and do not turn power off from back either just going over everything at once and also make sure its the usb port in the middle of the ps3 not toward the edge only one to use is the one toward the middle of the ps3 i hope this helps

you dont need anything to updrade to 3.41 just download the real 3.41 pup and update thats it if you go over 3.41 thats were you downgrade back to 3.41 go ahead and download the 3.41 update put it in a usb and update no need to wait at all

He’s using an E3 Card Reader, but whatever your device the steps are similar. if it compiled for that device then yes you can but if it for another device then you can't check the download section for you'r device and make sure you download the right one or just try it and see if it works there is no harm in it you wouldn't the stuff i have tried and my ps3 is working perfectly hope this helps

i will answer yes to this but dont quote me on this as i am going by ALL PS3'S ARE RGION FREE AND PLAY EVERYTHING all you would have to do is make sure you backup everything i am assuming the ps3 will choose the right files to install as i never get an option as to which pup i can download i have never seen a diffrent .pup file so i will answer yes to this if i am wrong then google has failed to help me and i am sorry but if i had a NTSC-J i would do it just to find out and post for people to know thank you

Great video very clear details unlike most videos posted that basically try and hide info. Im actually sceptical about winning anything free but its worth a try. I need the E3 card reader I don't want it I downloaded the 3.50 fm and it interfered with original firmware now it can only read movies. Unfortunatlly Sony says my warranty is up and they wont cover it..... I need to downgrade to play period my system wont let me play games.

guys I think I got an issue here please help or advise , I downgraded with an E3 card that I recieved 2 days ago , I used the video tutorial by ” Christechtv ” which was very helpful in getting my phat ps3 from ofw 3.50 to the modified 3.41 !

I used the original e3upgrader 1203.bin file initially ” the one that made blueray player un playable…….

then the following day good news they came out with a blueray fix for the e3 card .

so i tried copy pasting the new e3 upgraderbdfix.bin file on the e3 card reader that for some reason shows no files in the e3upgrade folder thats on the e3 card by the way !

i put the new file blueray disk fix onto the e3 card then put the e3 into usb drive on the ps3 to get into factory mode which i did successfully .

Now I turned of my ps3 manually with controller , then I inserted the other usb flash drive that contained the 2.10PUP firmware file and the file 1 file used in the original downgrade for ps3 so theres only 2 files on the usb flash in other words fat32 ..

so when i manually turned the ps3 on with the usb flash drive inserted in the right most usb input slot everything seems to be going as it should but my ps3 just been hanging there for a day with the green light flashing!

so i finally took out the drive cuz well ps3 doesnt seem to want to boot up , it turns on light turns green n then goes to red n powers off ..

no signal is shown on tv from ps3 !

Help what can I do what does it mean , how can I fix it ? WHAT did i do wrong ?

try this try holding the power button with no usb thingy hook'd up... hold it down until it comes on and goes off then let go and hold it down again this time when you hear a few beeps let go you should come to the diag window.. try want you can there if nothing works put the 3.50 update only on a usb and chose the update go back to 3.50 and start over i hope this works for you if not i am looking for you man alota reading too lol i am here to help as much as i can good will to you young one (we will bring ur ps3 back to life)

well what i should have said was put the 3.50 update into the folder PS3/UPDATE then put it on usb and wait

and when you hold the power button down the 2nd time you should like 3 fast beeps let go and it should start the screen if this does not work then you really are in trouble and need the pro's help

that worked fine for me now i am back runnin 3.41 jailbreak thanks bro !

I have a question again if you or anyone can help out with .

1. after jailbreaking my phat ps3 3.50 to 3.41 ...I had previously used the back up utility to backup my important saves n various user acct info n so forth, when i try to restore now i keep gettint an error at approximately 3% into the restore, what am I doing wrong or i need to do ?

2. If I have a new slim that i just bought 3 days ago that came on ofw 3.40 :) but I upgraded it to 3.55 so that i can continue playing online y isnt it posssible for me to transfer all my data from the old fat 3.41 ps3 to the new 3.55 ps3 after a restore from the backup utility to the 3.41 ps3 that was on 3.50 previously ?

i dont think you can can take stuff from 3.50 to 3.41 but i am cheacking into it for now try the jailbreak with the 3.50 spoof on it then do the restore and see if that works but it almost looks like you cant put newer info on an older update but im looking into it

Dear chris, i followed ur tutorial and downgrade with E3 card reader from 3.55 to 3.41 custom firmware, and wanted to go lower to 3.15 OFW, but when i try to go lower to 3.15 ofw, the hard drive light flashes, and then the green light flashes green FOREVER, its been 30 minutes now, almost a simpsons episode and a half, whats up with that? so then i tried to do it with the 3.20 OFW cuz i read somewhere someone said that the 3.15 will mess up my ps3 so im trying it now and the same thing, should i just wait it out?
