Gaia Manager v2.02 Released

A new version of Gaia Manager is out -- version 2.02 -- which corrects compatibility with older PS3 models and improves start-up time (you'll notice it's a little faster now). Note: The package comes with 3 different versions of Gaia. One of them takes games from the GAMES folder, one from the GAMEZ folder, and one from the BRRips folder. It's mainly for compatibility with other backup managers. Since most managers now allow you to select where to load your games from (Ex Rogero's and multiMAN both have these options), it doesn't really matter which one you use. You only need to install 1 of the 3 packages based on your choice. V2.02 (3.55 CFW only) Features:

Fixed compatibility with old ps3s
Improved start up time (it's faster now)

I was struggling with the decision too. I finally made the jump, and the new way is way better. Follow the instructions found on this website:

and everything will work great. I can get on PSN, and have a substantially greater amount of compatibility than I did (Of all the games I have, the only one I can't get working is AC:Brotherhood, and I get the feeling it didn't rip correctly last time).
Just update to 3.55, update to the patched Wutangrza, then update to Geohot and install the latest Gaia.
Note: when I did this, my game install data didn't work properly but the save data did (scared me to death when I first loaded my half-complete Heavy Rain file and it said data corrupted! But it ended up being okay). Good luck!

What am I doing wrong?

Went from 3.41 to 3.55, then 3.55 kmeaw, then I installed lvl2 and then last this Gaia.

Why doesn't any of my backups start?
Eboot missing, fix permission error shows.

I can't get any backups to work (3.55 OFW -> 3.55 kmeaw). Just takes me back to XMB or black screen freezes with skipping the XMB. I've tried the permissions fix, eboot fix, multiman/gaia/rogero. Nothing works :S

it works perfectly. in 2.01 i could not lauch games from my external hdd but now with 2.02 it works perfectly fine. thx to all the people involved in this project.

Well I think you can`t skip XMB, you have to choose [NO]
and from XMB you go to the folder/app... above install PKG... and select!
Pay more attention on the old news there you can find everything you need to get your games working!!!

Yeah I've got an original game in the drive but I just get black screen whenever I try to launch something, both skipping the XMB or the normal way both black screen.

All i can say is……OOOHHHHHH OMFG!!!! this shit really works trust me just follow the fffuuucckkinng instructions carefully, i personally have never bought a USB dungle nor did i ever ever update after 3.41 the only thing i ever did was borrow a friends ps3break & dloaded my only two games on my small 60gb PS3 (CoDmw1 & GTA4) of witch onlt GTA4 worked but now after i’ve done this ive been downloading like crazy on an external, so far all the games have worked, 10 total. KEEP UP THE GREAT GREAT WORK GUYS. P.S. any luck for a PS2 manager soon? hhhmmmm i sure hope so. (also: LEARN TO BE PACIENT & GREATFUL PEOPLE)

i download homebrew save on root of jump drive the same jump drive i jailbroke from boot ps3 with jump drive in and open to the install packages file under games and there is nothing in it tried 3 diff apps and it does not work on geohots jailbreak

In My Opinion Gaia Backup Manager is one of the best, but to me Multiman is a bit more stable.

I use them both about the same amount of times.

I like Gaia because you dont have to run the lvl2.pkg anymore, I don't think you have to run it on Multiman either , but I have not tested that new version yet.

And for People having the black screen problem with games plz make sure that you are using the original Eboot file if you pirated the game nomore patched ones needed

I run 3.55 kmeaw, Gaia and Multiman, Red Dead Redemption and GTA 4 work flawlessly for me at the moment testing black ops tomorrow once its done downloading.

i really need some1 to help me out..i have done kmeaw CFW 3.55 Patched PUP on my 40 gb ps3 and it is working great..

now i want to upgrade my internal ps3 hard disk with a new one,during installing a new hard disk ,ps3 asks for a system software update..my problem is that whether i should update directly with kmeaw CFW 3.55 Patched PUP or i install official 3.55 firmware first before installing kmeaw CFW 3.55 Patched PUP..??????

then i loaded ..it took me to the xbm menu

then from there i choose to fix

then i went to check my game icon and no matter wut u have in the ps3 ...it will show as the game u just ripped/

Got Kmeaw.......installed Lv2 patch and then Gaia...
For some reason when i load the game....it keep bringing me back to XMB....
Even with multiman......

Is there a way to make it work discless? Or maybe i'm missing something in the option of Gaia T.T

Works perfect with OFW 3.55 -> WuTangRza CFW -> GeoHot-JB, I backed-up FFXIII 40gb took about 55 minutes and works great. Also tried Heavy Rain, Red Dead, Street Fighter, Fallout 3, New Vegas, Hot Pursuit, GT5. FFXIII and GT5 to internal and the rest to external. No freezes like OMG-lv2 + Gaia 1.04(cfw 3.55). Backing up discs takes a long time but works. Do not use "Direct Boot" as directed by the Dev's site.

Do you have a disc in the drive? If so goto the disc on the game menu and your loaded game should appear. If you selected "discless" in Gaia, did you goto app_game and wait a sec after you were sent back to XMB?

BTW - If you are not new to the scene then I'm not trying to insult you just trying to help.

Depends where you have already "backed up" games to your internal. I'm guessing this is your first time so if I were you I would use the one that ends with "gamez" most other backup managers use the same folder on the internal HD but it's up to you.

It has been working just fine with disc in the drive...I'm just trying to get it to work discless. And yes..I selected discless...then go out and wait for the game to pop up in app_game. Just that every time i lauched from that, it just kick me back to XMB. Been importing it into the HD like 3 times already....yet no can work T.T

I guess I'll just have to stick w/ "disc in drive" =)

Works nice with Kmeaw 3.55 on fat 80gB.
GT5 -> ok without disc
NFS HP -> ok with disc
Lost all my save data in the process because my full backup was corrupt. Had to quick format to activate console on the PSN.
Anyone know how to extract the save data from the .dat file from a full backup ?

Ok my fat PS3 was a 40gig. I put a 300gig in it along time ago. Does this have anything to do why Gaia does not want to work? This suck ass. I Jailbroke it just fine. I can play nintendo games and saga games on it. I got lv2 installed it and that does not work at all as well. Do I need to do sothing else? Do I need to wipe out the system and start for scratch? I hope not! But I will if I have to. Any help please.Iv been waiting for something like this for years.

this nworks perfect if your game have not been modified and you still have the original back up manager file system.
also delete game data before running some games that worked for me.

i use gaia 2.02, 3.55 kmeaw, lv2 patch.
works perfect ocationally crashes.

Ok ihave two things first this will not work on waninkoko 3.55 cfw not sure why it just says i have to sign in with the profile that downloaded it and second i have F.E.A.R on my ps3 and i have to use R2 asthe primary fire button and i was wondering if anybody knows a way to switch it to the R1 button because some IDIOT out there thinks that its better and i ask who? and why? would anybody think of using the secondary button as a primary button and NO you cannot change it in the games option any help would be nice and heres an idea port the psp program "MacroFire" over to the ps3 that way i could setup my controller the way i want for any game THANKS in advance.

installed kmeaw cfw in recovery mode after updating ofw from 3.41 to 3.55.after that installed gaia manager 2.04(latest).successfully backed my originl games to internal and external hdd.but when i run them,it crashes back to xmb menu,disk inserted or not.tried diskless too.not working,any solutions? please help

Everything I run, Gaia, MultiMAN, Lv2.pkg, any pkg file, all I get is a black screen and it doesn't exit to XMB.. just sticks on a black screen. I can't run any homebrews. Just black screens whenever I try to run something. Help?

To play split games from external HDD, right click on the backed up folder click rename remove _ from the name and you're done, enjoy !
