E3 Flasher Shipping, but...

So apparently the E3 Flasher -- the limited edition -- started shipping yesterday, Oct. 13; however, the version shipping will not support dual-booting. Why? Because you need to solder additional wires for that... But we can expect dual-booting ability soon, so says the E3DIY Team. So I guess that means the limited edition is completely solderless ... and after looking through the install guide for the Slim (pdf attached below) it appears that is the case. Cool! Furthermore... The team had this to say:

We think lots of user mis-understand us, here is some clarification.

E3 FLASHER LIMITED still provide 11 accessory, include esata station.

we design e3 flasher on solder way at first, this way can get dual boot well. But later we change hardware and software design because of adding clip. so finally it's difficult to get dual boot function on e3 flasher clip version.

You still can get 3.72 and 3.55 switch with 2 HDD, it need more steps than dual boot, maybe we can call it half dual boot. This way no need any solder. We will release this half dual boot way in few days, you just upgrade e3 flasher limited and get it work.

We are working hard to allow e3 flasher limited vesion works really dual boot, but we can't promise now because lots of changes.

We upload all neccessory software and manual, you can go here to download and enjoy one key downgrade.

New e3 flasher should come out in few month with more fantastic function !

They knew damn well that people assumed that it supported dual-booting without the soldering, so why didn't they clarify it then. I'm sure they've gotten a ton of emails and read through comments. Heck, I'm sure they've snooped on sites like this who probably mentioned the dual-booting function in this current model in their article, but of course didn't correct them.

Honestly, spending a hundred and twenty dollars to dual boot is ridiculous. Buy another PS3 if you're willing to gamble that money (because 1, you can kill your ps3 and 2, you don't know if they can catch you and if you get banned then it's just a waste of money, because eventually there will be new firmware) .. and anyway, it sucks how they can't properly translate shit. it's so annoying. Put it in English, put it in Chinese, put it in Spanish, and if you're marketing to an international audience, pay someone 10 bucks to translate it into one of the other onesss

Sure, spending $120 is ridiculous. Sure it can possibly brick my PS3. But I have used the X3 before and it was fine, and it cost about $40. I have a lot of respect and admiration for the hackers, and I am eager to try their products.

Further, banned from what? From playing my PS3 at home? Or from the PSN? If it's the PSN, I don't care. I am not a hardcore gamer, and never go live. So, Sony, feel free to ban me from the PSN!

If it's banning me from playing the PS3 I bought and therefore supported Sony's revenues, well, I would be very surprised if they tried that.

Also, buy a new PS3? But that would come with 3.72, and from what I have read and researched, the New E3 Flasher kit I ordered is the only thing which will downgrade 3.72, so I would have to buy it anyway (which is why I bought it).

Anyway, that's my response, and that's all I am going to say on this topic. I know you're going to bash me, have fun ;)

I am the lucky owner of two PS3 consoles. One fat model with a 500 GB harddrive (full with games) and CFW 3.55. The other one is a PS3 Slim, 160GB with OFW 3.72 for playing on PSN.

Having a new custom firmware that would play 3.6 games (and up) would be nice in the near future. However, I have so many unplayed games on the harddrive still ... Just not enough spare time

I have preordered Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3. Some games you just have to buy to gain the complete experience.

EBay, craigslist, local newspapers, pawn shops.

All these places you can find perfectly gd PS3's, on old firmwares, for around $120.

Not only that, the business ethics of $ony have lead me to never, ever purchase ANY product from them.

big difference, this item has 1.3kg, the heavy item is the downgrade adapter..

We renew two file to fix game problem after downgrade to 3.55 .Please note don't install any other 3.55FW after downgrade to 3.55, otherwise will have brick risk ! Click here to download the E3_downgrade file copy to TF(for one key downgrade)V1.2 and Enter and exit factory service mode file V1.2

e3 card reader is just a reader. E3 flasher is the thing with motherboard which connect to your PS3 motherboard.

but the Coolgadgetsgift guys told me that the e3 flasher need downgrade the system from 3.72 to 3.55 currently when i received my e3 flasher, i will let you guys know more by then

Did anyone buy from Acekard.ca? If so is there a way to return it upon arrival and get our money back? I tried canceling on the 15th but recieved no reply and the phone number doesnt work.
