Has anyone found some kind of tutorial for mac? I have a virtual pc running on my mac, but have no interest in installing photoshop on it when i have a Master CS5 collection on my mac.

Yeah i heard about this yesterday.... its working good too, at first i thought it was hard but the only trouble i had was flashing it to the drive via FTP but if anyone gets stuck with the same problem just install & open Dev_blind to mount the PS3, then install & open up Comgenie's Awesome Filemanager (just google or look in the d/loads section above if you cant find it) to find the dev_blind/vsh/resource folder & then drop & copy the RAF file over the old one but only when in advanced mode this will work! (thats the one with the red screen after you press the mode selection in that menu) this should get you going! Oh & use a USB stick with the RAF file you created plugged in to the PS3 LOL. I've made a wicked boot up screen with this & ive heard you can also change the boot up music too with up to about 8seconds of your own sounds! Enjoy this one people but be carefull when messing with stuff in the flash, you should be safe if you dont delete any other files other than the RAF file but just dont go nuts in there (YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!)

Yeah thats possible but remember with this program the text or pictures will only show up in black & white! & the black text is transparent! Maybe in the near future we can make these in colour? :O)

I would like to add that you can use a DDS plug-in for paint.net. (which is a really great free alternative.)

i had absolutely no problem with this real simple made some pretty cool logos maybe those who are bricking there systems don't have enough knowledge that flash is dangerous.

also this is how i have been doing it

Run Asbestos let it fail (x) out
run multiman go to file manager area
have the coldboot in your usb drive I suggest somthing like this Coldboot_new
hdd00_rwflash/vsh/resources
make a back up of original coldboot
then delete it from location of orgin
copy over your new Coldboot_new
then rename to Coldboot.raf
and presto

those who say they have there system brick with what message are you greeted with is it black screen with white letters or just plain black?
this has worked for me have bricked myself a couple of times
have a USB drive with CFW firmware tht u had on your system like the whole
PS3/Update file setup then put your system in recovery itll boot from the usb and it'll be back to normal

Just dids a couple of hours ago. It works fine. He is just being a troll because
A)He updated to 3.56 and is jealous
B)Has an Xbox 360 because his parents wouldn't buy him a ps3
C)He is an annoying 12 year old

This will not brick your console.

Tried flashing from FTP but somehow it gets error....and ask me to reinstall the firmware.
i think a save method is flashing through dev_blind or freeflash...

or maybe he cant do it because there isnt a noob proof tutorial for him to use? I got stuck on one thing with this & i figured out where i went wrong later. If you dont read the instructions properly thats why you will brick.... this app is safe just be careful when putting the RAF file in the Dev_blind/vsh/resource folder if you just drop that in & say yes to copy over the old file you will be just fine.... just dont delete the whole folder or you could brick ( MAYBE???? ) If you have not tried of read up on this Damion dont give false infomation when 90% of this post confirm this as a working app! & i talk from experiance cause i have created a boot for mine.

Just be careful when messing with the dev_flash or dev_blind & your be fine!

You will need to do this on how to do it read below -

D/load from ether the d/load section on this or google these apps Dev_bind & Comgenie's Awesome Filemanager

use Dev_blind to mount the flash on your PS3 & after use Comgenie's Awesome Filemanager to find the dev_blind file then open up dev_blind folder then vsh folder & then copy the RAF file into the resource folder & that will copy over the old RAF file.... BUT ONLY when in advanced mode this will work ( thats the one with the red screen ) this should get you going! Oh & use a USB stick with the RAF file you created on it & have it plugged into the PS3 LOL

Remember to be carefull when flashing stuff to the drive & only copy over the RAF file & then you should be ok
Hope this helps

You should read the tutorials & take your time when doing things like this! As you said ( i just got my ps3 and now its fucked up ) cause messing with the flash can be dangerous but if you READ CAREFULLY you wont brick, or if you wait until the app has been tested & used for a few days & ask lots of questions before you dive in feet first it will stop from bricking your console! this is a forum & thats what this is all about gathering & sharing information.

By the way im not having ago at you & im sorry if this has bricked your PS3, but next time your know better

I just deleted the old cold boot file and replaced with another one. I didn't even have to read the instructions. I found the file and the boot music. Deleted all three files and put the new ones in. Very easy and not hard at all. There doesn't have to be a noob proof tut. Also why would someone delete a whole folder in DEV_FLASH. That right there says stupid. If you are not comfortable with messing around your DEV_FLASH just do not try this.

do you know the settings you need to use when saving? I tried using gimp and match up settings from that screenshot provided (not much help there) only to find it doesn't work.

is it possible to use gimp with the dds plugin instead of photoshop and if so what should the settings be when you save the dds files in gimp?
