Core Version OS v3.1 BETA Released

Submitted by greg; March 07, 2011

Who bricked their PS3? If you've answered yes, and you answer yes to this question: Do you have a NAND reader? Then CVOS is for you ... if you know Spanish, or know how to use some translation service. Connecting the NAND reader/writer may be the only step that proves difficult.
CVOS Screenshot
CVOS 3.1 BETA Features
  • Check and analyze the dump correcting the flaws that have this and thus repairing the internal firmware of our PS3.
  • It can extract the various files that make up the core of our PS3 (read lv2_kernel.self, eurusfw.bin, etc …).
  • Lets look at both full NAND Dumps as desenciptados CORE_OS_PACKAGE.pkg packages provided to analyze your files.
  • Finds and extracts the User Profile (EID, bootloaders, etc) the dump interlaced with the flow rebuilder.

well ive tested it and im happy to say after alot of translation
that it is what it says it is BUT! in saying that remember its a beta so bugs are there like saying it cant read nand but keep trying cause it did find the nand sooner or later but for noobs id say wait till it progresses some more good work tho!

NOW @ DASHHACKS what's being done about the new games needing 3.56 to play??? maybe its time to show a tut for the noobs to modifiy there param.sfo and eboots im in new zealand so we have been hit big time with 3.56 game releases with no fix as of yet also i can confirm fight night champions EU is a 3.56 game as ive just brought it the other day and it prompt me to update to 3.56 but i managed to find the pkg to get it working and now it runs sweet! no update needed so i say to ps3-hacks to show a detailed tut on editing the param and eboots and making the pkg fixes for these 3.56 games

maybe it's a noob question, but:
A NAND Reader needs to be soldered to the PS3 mobo right?
I know my way around soldering and i have a bricked (wanko) ps3 at home, so might want to give it a shot. could post some pics if i decide to go for it.

Instead of " If your Spanish" you should say.." if you know Spanish"

Hmm.. I got myself a waninkoko bricked launch 60gb ps3 and wondered if this would work to fix it? and if so, is there any good but cheap solderless NAND reader/writers that would work? Got a second ps3 on the go atm with 3.55 kmeaw on but wouldn't mind my original ps3 back to life just for PSN and stuff and this second one for homebrew/backups.

You can dump and write ps3 firmware with infectus, but not much info on it or a link to buy? Unless someone else knows where it is http://www.infectus.biz/develo...

This is what people should be posting in the comments section...
a well deserved 'Thanks', and then a suggestion to the web-site community...
Thank You, to both 'greg' and 'ConsoleHacks'

sounds like a pain in the ass when my ps3 bricked i found out an easier way to fix it if you have a second ps3. first remove the hdd in your bricked one and swap it out with the one from the other ps3. turn it on itll ask you something along the line of formatting it forgot what it exactly said. take that hdd out and put yours in and format it and have a version of whatever firmware on a flash drive itll need it. this worked with me i hope it helps some people out.

you would need an infectus modchip which you need solder expertly to the two NAND on the ps3, since that is what will enable you to dump and write NAND

Thanks to Jaime Hernandez(for those who don't know Spanish, I'm not one of them) Thanks to Greg for taking the grave risk and posting....(Yea guys by posting links, he takes a risk, every other day....) And the developer(s) for seeing this as a problem and deciding to do something about it... I'm sure more working will come of this if the demand is high enough... In the meantime we(devs, testers, etc...) will continue working on our(other) projects....

Best regards....
Greg, and the ps3-hacks community...

Then what happens if Sony releases FW 3.57 or 4.00?
This means that all that key updating is for a waste.

I think it is better that we come up with a 3.56 CFW.
Just a guess, anyways...

this only works if you semi-bricked your ps3. If you ruin the NAND (wanko'scfw) you are not going to revive your ps3 with this trick.

I found some: Infectus Modchip can be used as a PS3 NAND Flasher.
Here is their website: http://www.infectus.biz/index....
And here is the soldering diagram for the PS3 NAND: http://www.infectus.biz/diagra...

I am willing to give it a go at work, but i can't find an infectus anywhere ;(

anyone think that it might be possible to solder the Infectus 2 to something like this: http://parts.digikey.ca/1/1/96...
To make it possible to unbrick multiple consoles without having to solder all the wires everythime?

And if 3.56 CFW is produced? They bring out the next firmware version, which CFW has to be produced for - there's no point in that either.

i'm hoping some company makes a solderless NAND flasher for the ps3. I have no skill at al with soldering and for something that would be used only once is a bit pointless.

*fingers crossed*

Here is your no solder solution that you can use all clip leads lol.....

http://www.adapt-plus.com/prod...

not worth it learn to solder.

Oh I suggest practicing on a old motherboard if you have one that is broken or don't care about anymore there should be comparable ICs on most of them.

$500 for that??? No thanks... lol

Might just ask around my friends to see if any of them can still solder as last time I did it was like 10 years ago at school.
