  • Allows you to play DVD movie ISOs from HDD
  • Integrated support to play PS1 game ISOs from HDD
  • Enjoy PS3 games with files >4GB on external USB HDD

  • Unique custom Cobra firmware acts as OFW when dongle not inserted
  • Play PS3 games from internal HDD
  • PS3, PSX, DVD and BluRay ISO's can now be played without a real disc inserted in the PS3
  • MCU firmware and flash firmware updatable using easy to use free PC updater
  • First class customer support and free regular firmware upgrades
  • No need to open your console, just plug and play
  • High quality components and materials used throughout
  • Unique and built from scratch Cobra USB manager featuring slick U.I. and customized options with easy navigation
  • Actel based encryption engine onboard to prevent device cloning
  • Fast onboard 2 Mbyte SPI flash for firmware storage

  • Downgrader functionality included free of charge, allowing users to upgrade firmware to and from 3.41 at will.
  • Multi lingual user interface (English, Spanish and French as standard with more languages to be supported later)
That's pretty cool. If you're looking to upgrade you can find all the latest downloads on Cobra's website right here. That includes their 3.55 CFW and Cobra USB firmware. Note: If you do not own a Cobra USB stick, then you need not upgrade to their custom firmware. But know this: Hackers are working to reverse the Cobra, figuring out how it all works, and it is a safe bet it'll be open sourced, flashing its way onto our USB dev. boards ... sooner or later. - source: cobra-usb.com

Its mean to be fine? But this is a dongle that unlock any fw (3.55+) or not?

Now if only these people would release things like this for the good of the scene, instead of to line their pockets by exploiting piracy.

Still, nice features. =P

No, this is a CFW for use with the Cobra USB device. Their version of 3.55 CFW allows you to use all the features of the Cobra device, plus some unique features.

The only thing that can "unlock" (I assume you mean downgrade) a 3.60+ console is Infectus.

So now someone can just reverse this FW to allow support of all these functions (assuming they're in the firmware and not powered by the dongle) without a dongle being inserted... maybe permanently flagging that variable? No idea how it works lol

What we need is a release of a newer CFW but I expect it probably won't happen until the release of a ton of newer games encoded with the 3.60+ keys are released so that there is a giant backlog of games and not just simply a few before sony patches it.

So I am all for the wait but the game list is growing and I hope devs release a new cfw soon. But I think they may be waiting till MW3 and BF3 is released. That to me would be a good time to release it.

I think there is already a 3.66 custom firmware.  Just no one with the balls to release it.

Damn, I should get me one of these so I don't have to use my PS2 for my PSX backups. Most of my original PSX discs are scratched like hell from my childhood. It'd also be nice to put my library of PS2 games on my PS3, since it's a phat model.

its not hard at all, its just people aren't going to do, release, or share the work if they're not going to get credit for it. I do have to say that that is one reason the PSP/PS3 scene is the worst of them all, people only do stuff for the fame and the credit resulting in no support if things go wrong, dont work or need an update and people wont release stuff because they can't take credit for it or they release fake stuff.

What are you talking about? How can't they get credit for it?

You do know usernames don't point you towards where people live/work/phone numbers. If someone wanted to release it under a different Alias (obviously not your first name as an alias) can still retain all the credit they want from their project.

9/10 Releases on PS3-Hacks don't include the developers/programmers first and/or last name.

They can release it anonymously  and still retain credit and still get the satisfaction of releasing something without the fear of being tracked down.

Of course, they can track you down if you made an alias like ohhh I don't know, your first and last name?

Ex. Geo(rge)Hot(z).

no you can not install this on 3.66 or 3.6x anything for that matter... not yet anyway. dont know if it will brick you but i would assume it would, and not do it. didnt you hear though... its on psx scene that someone has the keys for sure this time and will be finishing up their work when they get back from vacation (yeah we have heard that before, but this dev is credible and the real deal), so lets keep our fingers crossed and be patient. you know sony monitors these sites so i am sure they will come out with a new firmware soon so beware, be patient, and you will soon be on cfw i am sure of it.

If you're asking how I'm playing my PSX backups on my PS2, I am using a Breaker Pro disc. The swap method is annoying though. I also have a Swap Magic disc for my PS2 backups. Though I only have one PS2 game that I use it for, so it only gets used every 8-12 months. You can also use Swap Magic to load up uLaunchElf and use that to launch PS2 homebrew. But again, it's an annoying task because of the disc swapping.

There are other methods of doing it, too. Last I checked there was a memory card unit that enabled playing PSX/PS2 backups.

A username can still point to an IP address though, and Sony can probably acquire that easily enough. All they have to do is go to a site administrator or domain provider and say that this person has been submitting software that goes against their "terms of service". From there, if the site admin or domain provider denies them access, all Sony has to do is either bribe them or threaten them. Once Sony has done that, it becomes that much easier to get an IP address and track their new victim.

there is no credit in this kind of action, or you are a man who wants a better world, helping people get through this stupid things like in my country, we're obliged to pay 200$ on each game, the taxes are higher than game original value itself, or u want credit going to jail, but the anom who put the 3.66 will be respected from people man, thats im sure. srry the bad english

Got my Cobra USB from http://www.slickgate.com/_p181... and seems to work ok... trouble is, when I FTP my PSX
backup, the Cobra USB Manager doesn't recognise it. Even though I've
FTP'd it to the directory which it suggests....... Not tried any PS2
iso's yet

If you were actually releasing something on PS3-Hacks of some use towards the scene, excluding a backup manager/emulator fix, I think one would be able to circumvent this quiet easily.

I don't know what a VPN is /s, or what a Proxy is, or why anyone in their right mind if they had Keys to a firmware would release it at their OWN HOUSE?

I wonder if theres public places to let you use computers? even if you didn't wanna move there's so many alternatives.

But yes to your comment, if someone wanted to release keys on their own ISP on their home network through their facebook account, then I wouldn't advise it.

I dont think the 3.66 will ever be jailbroken, unless its a modchip hardware not software
