Atleast in my country. How do you reason? Is it piracy cause you run it on the PS3? :)

Absolutely agree. Do I own my PS3 or not. Geez I paid $400.00 for it , and I can't upgrade it if I want to. But it's ok to remove products that I bought the PS3 for. I/E the OtherOs. Ridiculous. Thats like buying a Corvette and after you buy it Chevy says, well since most speeds limits only go as high as 65, we are going to remove your V8 and install a 4 cylinder, and then modify your computer so you can not go past 70. Wait I paid $50,000 and your going to do what, oh so since you did this your going to refund me some money right. NOPE!.
Oh yeah, don't forget about the fact that New cars do have computers within them, and the Manufacture does limit speeds, can't go faster then 120 for example. But you can buy a chip, or a programmer and modify the computer. Is that legal? I would consider that as a homebrew program, unsigned program not made by the original manufacture. Hmm
Good luck GEO, Sony I hope GEO walks out of the court room, and throws you the bird!!

Makes me think if its actually SONY themselves that created a jailbreak so pirates could buy this console. Put it this way, who would want a system that will block free things. Certainly not third world countries.
Its not like I don't want to give credits to hackers, if it wasn't for them I would have my PS3 collecting dust. Though still. I'm just saying; What does it take to be a hacker?

And its true whats the difference between the iPhone and the PS3?? just because one its mobile while the other one isnt? that's a big load of BS if its the difference, like seriously everything else like Geohot explain its almost the same and just for one word(mobile) its illegal??? right its like saying im a killed this person but i was sleep walking, will that exclude me from being a murderer O.o

The decision to alter is because groups consolidated on a deficient compiled program and lack of another group of programmers.
The idiotic judgment is to mix programmers and gamers when homebrews not necessarily direct to games. Only simple headed consumers assumed it is only games in their minds when it is not.
The mindless sense of repeating of explaining thousands over requests for their simple mind sets of games requires absolute patience even for every individual.

For instance: It is not allowed to modify your car in such a way that it might hurt and or endanger the public. You can however, modify your car to make it do the things you want, and make it look the way you want, as long as it doesn't hurt or endanger anybody.
The same (should) count(s) for the PS3. If I want to modify it to make it do the things I want to (e.g. play my legally owned emulator games or be able to play movie files that are not supported by the OFW) then I (should) have the right to do so. As long as this doesn't hurt or endanger the public (e.g. piracy causing fewer sales and therefore causing fewer investments).
Try to read and understand the full meaning of a post before you reply my friend...

The IS NO MORE LINUX on the PS3 because Sony removed it. That's why Geohot Jailbroke it.

Not that they're in competition or anything. They are all mature people that are more than happy to share and build upon each other's work. Like ALL hackers *should* be.

Calm the fuck down. Just respect what he did do & leave it.

Thats a mod. Thats legal. I own the car, cassette tape deck, cd player, cassette to 3.5mm wire & the CD.
Im allowed to explore the possibilities of the equipment I own.
If you want to ban hacking, say goodbye to chemists, scientists, of any of those purposeful people on earth that further advances our life form. Understandably you want the dumb shits to rule. So everyone is content commenting garbage to fulfill your own ego, rather then experimenting & discovering something new to share to the world.

I bought my ps3 for 500 euros and if sony tells me i can't do anything i want to do with the item i bought for that price i'll tell them to fuck off.
I respect them as creative company that produces great devices for our entertainment but they're going the wrong path with this.
They should bring back otherOS not like it's needed anymore since it's jailbroken already. once they bring otherOS back we'll see alot of ppl crying since hackers wouldnt care anymore about backup managers and those who expects free games will just have to wait forever.

It's still not possible to install whatever game or software you want. they will not work.
Why? Well, the PSN store scans the game ID and if you have that game in your PSN store list you can use the game.

That's probably why he quite the scene while he was ahead because he didn't want to deal with Sony's bullshit.
Anyway down to the business...running unsigned code will inevitably lead to piracy without a doubt!
Geohat gives the end user the option to install .PKG files such as backup manager. He didn't include it in the actual firmware. That's his argument. He didn't promote piracy but at the same time his firmware gives you the option to do such "bad" things. So is that enough to save his sorry ass?? Who knows!

I mean, it enables the package installer menu and all, but you are still not able to install any emulators, and you can not bypass the PSN store ID check when you try to install a game you didn't buy.
So, what does this actually do that is so awesome?

-It enables homebrew you pirate. Why don't you do a bit of reasearch moron, emulaors have been working since the night the signing keys/apps were made available. I have been playing all my EMUs on 3.55 for a bit now.
