PS3 Firmware 3.15 Released; PS3 to PS3 Data Transfer & "Minis" Support

It's optional, but if you got two PS3's like me, you'll want it... Firmware 3.15 lets you transfer PS3 data from one to the other as detailed here. PS3 Firmware 3.15:

Settings
- You can now transfer the data that is saved on one PS3™ system's hard disk to another PS3™ systems hard disk using an Ethernet cable.
PlayStation Network
- Some games under the minis category of PlayStation®Store will soon be able to be played on the PS3™ system. If you have already downloaded games from the minis" category of PlayStation®Store to a PSP® system, you will be able to download and play the games on a PS3™ system using the download list in PlayStation®Store.*
  
  *Some games from the minis category may not be playable on a PS3™ system.

Wouldn't this somehow pose another open posibility into exploiting/hacking the PS3?

Our problems so far have been accessing the PS3 hard drive contents. If it passes through a network cable it should be possible to sniff the packets and MAYBE get something from it.

Anyway, I might just be saying gibberish, but there hasn't been much updates as to wether we'll see any hacking of the ps3 or not..

I wouldn't say pointless the transfer feature and the pspmini sounds OK, nothing major, but not pointless.
The major suck-ass part of all this is i finally updated my ps3 to 3.10 and my internet at home got cut off so no playstation home, or online play. I dont care much for PSN. But i realy wanted online play and PSHOME and my Internet gets cut. AINT THIS A BITCH!!!

looks like this formats the system being transfered to an mirrors it to the old one, i was hoping to pick an choose what to transfer and not have to format the "new" system as ive already got it loaded with stuff too. so ya pretty pointles unless your buying a new system

i don't know if this matters, but over at ps3news i saw that someone has dumped the flash for the ps3 slim by taking the flash out of the ps3 and using a reader. all the files are encrypted but that souns like progress to me.

Hey every body me again feel free to flame me on this. Ok i realized that the PS3 may be "unhackable". Not because it's really unhackable but because the system is so Awsome and the games are so badass that we can't pull away to actually get any hacking done.

I just saw that the Wii is hack after hack and exploit after exploit. over at PS3news thay have a Wii section. and every other page there is an explit. one from Indiana jones another from Zelda twilight princess and the list goes on. It just seems odd that the PS3 is SO DAMN DIFFICULT.

and yes i now that they are two tottaly diferent systems. im just saying.

I just wanted to share something odd about this update. For some reason this update fixed an error with my BR drive that prevented it from loading BR disks properly. This error had occured from a previous FW update that didn't get to finish. For over a year I have had a PS3 that didn't play BR games without first loading a downloaded PS3 game first.

Just thought it was odd that other FW updates didn't correct this issue.

Think about this.

I actually don't think Sony will continue to block orp since xbox has an app in the app store that IS remote play for xbox. I don't no how new it is, but I think it's new.

Maybee sony will make an app for remote play, and if they're not aloud because it's techically compitition with xbox, maybee they'll stop blocking it so atleast some users can have remote play on iPod/iPhone.

And If I'm wrong, then sony, since I no ur reading this, I think u should keep orp now more then ever since now there's a good reason to.

btw, ORP is gonna be around, considering that sony has also included an option to pair and register your sony brand phone with the ps3...hasn't that occured to you? of course ORP is gonna be around...afterall, it also on the psp and the phone...wat else do you expect?

and as for hacking to become easy, i have yet to see it...but my theory is that sony has somehow manage to make a multi-lock systems that require three different passkey on one card...that my theory...if we could somehow crack that, chances are, ps3 can be hacked...which is prob why nobody has hacked it yet...
