As part of the Official PlayStation Blog, Sony's Network Entertainment VP Eric Lempel has created a post dedicated to the reveal of a firmware update that should be on the servers as early as tomorrow. Being numbered at 4.30, one can't expect too many huge features to jump out at you, but it does make some significant changes to how trophies are handled within the XMB. For one, your trophy collection will now be viewed under the PlayStation Network section. There you will be able to see all of the trophies you have earned on the PS3 as well as the PS Vita, and you will also be able to see your trophy level progress in that same interface as well.
However with these integration changes does come the announcement of a few feature retirements. For one, starting in November, the Life With PlayStation service will be slowly discontinued. In the midst of all this, it saddens me to report that this will also include the PS3's participation in Stanford University's Folding@Home project that helped to cure many various neurological ailments. While there certainly aren't as many active users folding today as their have been in the past, the university is still grateful to all of those who left their console's running to help their cause. That being said, it is quite curious that we see this update coming the day after the release of a 4.25 CFW. I don't have to tell you guys that if you're hoping to eventually enter the scene, you might want to stay away from this update for now.
