Hermes PS3 Custom Firmware 3.41 Updated w/ New Payload v4C

Hermes shares an update for his/her PS3 Custom Firmware... and really, I'm not sure what's what here... This goes untested by me, but from what I gather, you download the package and the 3.41 PUP, run patch.bat and it'll create the patched PUP that you'll be flashing. From there you install the payload -- payloadhv4.pkg -- and you run that each time your PS3 boots. Why? I don't know... What's new? I believe only the payload pkg has changed. The newest payload, v4C I guess, has been added to the Hermes CFW 3.41 zip archive. Unzip "payloadhv4.zip" and you'll have the pkg + source code. im using it and i love it. with 3.55 you lose alot of stuff like 3rd party accessories and certain drm movies dont play anymore through the theatre as well there is zero crashing and everything i've backed up loads perfect whereas with 3.55 custom firmware id need to rerip all the eboots and who knows what else they threw into that firmware that we dont know about. great work hermes!

well i cant try this i think its not worthy cause there is nothing new guys wait for homebrew channel and firmware psg pkg which will bypass all new firmware 3.55 and 4.00 which sony is bringing out to try to stop jailbreak .i dont think so waninkoko and gorgo are nearlly ready to release koko decrypter and psg...so dont try this firmware unless you are 100% it works try at own risk ok

i dont get why people are still using cfw 3.41 as it prevents you from getting online and prevents you from playing new games.

simply update to 3.55 using keamw (or what ever its called) and you get everything, online, homebrew, new games.

you can run all new games so far with modified eboot.bin for 3.41
I do not care about PSN and I will not connect to it. sony already knows who use unauthorized software, and sooner or later expect banhammer Darren

for now, I do not really see the point to move to 3.55, not to mention accidental brick chance...

I just wish Eternal Sonata would work (in ANY JB/CFW). I have the original, copied/ripped it to HDD, it doesn't play and all googling of "eternal sonata" with 3.55 or 3.41 CFW/JB shows us posts of people stating it doesn't work.

At least Sony has potential to stop games working in CFW by how Eternal Sonata doesn't work, unless in future (please!) it's worked out how to get this going...

i havenot modded a thing am still running sonys 3.41 i have games what do not work on the hard drive but am waiting for the safest way to updade i dont use online ngaming these guys are doing a good job and i know its just a matter of maybe weeks before theres a 3.55 patch with min risk to your ps3 worth waiting for anyway keep up the good work all hackers

This is moving backwards. Everyone should move up to 3.55, all the new backups will have clean eboots and not work on 3.41 anyways.

eternal sonata works with pkg installer. you can simply unpkg the eboot.bin, modify it to run on the ps3 hard drive of usb and then repkg it signed or unsigned(if you're still running 3.41).

Working great here. Been playing dead space two for about three hours with no problems. Love how hermes can make quick changes and no need to flash the whole thing, so much safer. Gt5 works ok. Still need modified eboots but only takes a one off five minutes. No interest in going online and getting screwed.

Just have to find a drawer for the dongle.

Has anyone tried flashing this to a FAT PS3 20GB CECHB01 ?

I remember reading somewhere that CECHB01 were bricking cause of the 256 NAND. So I'm a little iffy about touching any CFW as this is my only old FAT PS3 that has full backwards compatibility built in.

Any answers will be greatly appreciated.

Well, for what its worth.. i took the plunge and flashed this firmware and DIDN'T BRICK.. *wipes sweat off brow*

It works, and homebrew installers/pkg's only work after I run the hermesv4 payload pkg. However, I cannot run or install GAIA 2.04?? Is that one exclusive to 3.55? What else can I use for a Backup manager then?

I was wondering; can we play downloadable content (DLC)with a back up of the game?
Example- God of War 3 Kratos costumes that are all DLC or Resident Evil 5 Expansions that are also DLC.

I use this and EVERYTHING WORKS, NO FREEZES AND NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. NOTHING LOST, NOTHING CHANGES.

ALL GAMES WORK LIKE BEFORE, PSN AND DISC GAMES WORK that were installed with a dongle.

NO NEED FOR A DONGLE, EVERYTHING WORKS.

All you guys need is the proper eboot modified to install as a .pkg.

They ARE out there and if not the tools and tuts to do it are. Please google.

That I know of there is not 1 game new or old that we can not get running on 3.41. Scratch that, maybe AC1 doesn't work but I'm not sure about that.

3.55 has absolutely nothing to offer at all as of right now. Unless your a complete idiot, you should not be playing on PSN.

those of us that have 2 ps3's, 1/off 1/on, are seeing the difference in online game play with the games and lobbies freezing every other game online.

How long do you dumbfucks think it's going to take Sony to ban your asses. They won't let it go on for to long and if they took the other OS from you think about what they are willing to do.

I say it's just a matter of time and they start charging for PSN access and put out dedicated servers that will identify you way quicker than usual.

Still waiting for a reply on what version of Gaia I can use with this Hermes v4c 3.41 CFW. Gaia 2.04 won't launch but gives me an error, even after running Payload v4c.

Only thing I have managed to run is Rogero Manager 7.9a, should I just stick with Rogero? I wanna be able to play Dead Space 2 with the modified eboot.

No, this firmware has virtually no chance of bricking if you install from an official 3.41. i had no bricks or freezes... to run unsigned apps you need to run the pkg everytime, but with some apps you do, why not 3.55, cause its buggy as F***, and banhammer will be put into action soon, Hermes cfw is the best right now and the safest, online and offline, no bricks so far and at least over 300 people installed it with no bricks,

Ok, so I tried KMEAW 3.55 and I'm not happy! I couldn't play any new games, especially Call of Duty, nor Splatterhouse. Some of the old games worked but it would freeze w/in Multiman often and I'd have to do a hard shutdown. I've downgraded using the instructions and I installed Hermes new cfw w/Payload 4c which is contained in this file although it has the same name as the old file. 3.55 sucks to me as I couldn't transfer files well w/ftp within Rogero or Multiman. Think I'll keep it to 3.41 where I had EVERYTHING I wanted working! Sucks I lost all my savedata in the process of doing all this.

That sucks. I made sure to transfer my savedata and trophy stuff to my PC before doing stuff to format my drive. After it's formatted, just transfer it back to the proper spots and tell the PS3 to rebuild its database (use recovery menu for this option). You'll have it all back :)

i think you may have installed a 3.55 ver try looking for a 3.41 ver

otherwise i highly recomend multiman. all bm are very good , they copy mount and play what more do you want?

but the reason i recomend multiman is nearly every 2 days it is being updated and best of all you can update stragiht from your ps3 online.(note u dont need psn)

may i ask is this payload just a pkg that acts like a dongle or is it a flashing cfw

dont use it it bricked my ps3. on the middle of the update gives an error and restarts downloading now system asking for 3.41 firmware of higher. I have done everything i can think of but the system always comes back to unaccessable disk or errors or to insert media with the 3.41 or higher update again, I am giving up.... if you have any suggestions please advice, ready to get a new one but hate to leave unresoved issues,
