Video: First Look at the N64 Emulator for PS3

While much work remains, here is the first look at the Nintendo 64 emulator for the PS3. No release date is set, but know this: it's nearing, whether it's these guys or someone else, we'll no doubt be emulating the N64 some day soon.

What's working

1 player (keyboard only)
We have succeeded to enable gameshark codes
Graphics works excellent on most games we have tried; Mario 64, Donkey Kong 64, Ridge Racer 64, Diddy Kong Racer, Mario Kart 64, Banjo Kazooie and 1080 Snowboard.
Games we have tried that are jerky (so far): Duke Nukem 64, Doom 64, Hexen 64 and WCW Smackdown 64.

Issues

Audio is not working yet.
A user interface and the ability to edit and change files such as controller settings, cheat codes, etc. (We do all this over FTP now).
Game menu (we now have to upload one game at the time).
PS3 controller, (we now have to use a USB keyboard).
Multiplayer.

Hey this is great I love old school consoles and emulating them on the ps3 is my main concern, I do not condone piracy and you guys are awsome for putting your time and hard work into developing this for the masses, keep it up people like you keep this scene alive and keep old console games alive for the next generation as well love your work

Ok, this seems shady. why is the damn carmera so close to the tv?! It doesn't prove anything. Even my 4yr old can do a simple set up of a camera so it captures the ENTIRE tv so you'd be able to see me navigate the ps3 xmb/click on emulator/play game. Looks like he was holding camera and navigating at the same time. Why was that even neccessary?! To much movement for me to take seriously. I don't care if it's your phone camera or video camera....set it up properly and then upload a new video.

Ok, Im going to go ahead and say this is fake and this is why.

1.) Right before the game starts in each video, it looks like the video was cut or the camera was stopped and started again.
2.) In the second video the button presses during menu navigation sound more like an N64 controller then a PS3 controller or keyboard.
3.) For the emulator to be in such an "early" stage of development, it seems to run too smoothly.

Now when you can provide a half way decent video that shows the ps3 and the tv in constant view then it will be more believable. Get a friend to hold your camera or shit build one from coke bottles.

I highly doubt you have the full list. There are at least 2 games on the "Miss" list that'll probly never be obtained and 1 game that I'm aware of that doesn't even show up at all. I know it exists, even though I cannot find it anywhere. I've had it at one point in time. *sighs*

Mario 64 on the N64 has a maximum of 120 stars, but the video clearly shows 132 stars saved. The DS version on the other hand has 150 stars. This is the DS emu on a PC shown on a TV

Video 03
The TV magically turns from a TV to a PSP at 31 seconds into the video

Sorry this isn't real, I REALLY want a N64 emu on PS3, but this is an obvious fake

At second 31 of the Smash Bros. video it clearly changes screens. You can easily tell by the way the light reflects. If you look to the bottom it looks like a PSP screen.

Number 1: Turn off caps lock.
Number 2: Type the error message verbatim into Google and see what you get.
Number 3: Search our forums the same way.
Number 4: Post a topic in the "Help" subsection of our forum where someone who's had the problem might see it.

If you fail to do any of these steps I guarantee you will be ridiculed, flamed and added to the noob hall of fame thread.

i have working xbox emu, its coming soon, watch out for vid
its called xbps3
main features currently working are quick channel change using remote just after xmb flick about and before xbox loads game!
em no sound tho', but 1080p working

First Video - Can easily be a CFW PSP connected to a TV using component/composite cables especially since the entire menu isn't shown just the scroll through and it's blurry as hell but seems to have a lot of PSONE games which are compatible to be played on the PSP.

Second Video - At around 21 - 26 seconds the camera is facing down and to the left then at 27-28 the camera is facing up and to the right where the nintendo logo comes in... I wonder what could have happpened in between that time hmmm....

Third Video - Easiest to spot at 31 seconds to 32 seconds the camera jumps from showing the tv on the bottom right to not at all and the TV darkness changes as well he's probably recording off of a PSP at this point.

All in all this is 1000000% fake. You can't ever see the full picture of what's going on he could easily be changing inputs of the TV or changing eboot pictures from the PSP to make it look like its running off a PS3 such as a multiman icon for a megaman game it's not to hard. Either way till we see a full picture and NOT blurry then It's fake who agrees?

I can't believe this shit is making the rounds on all the ps3 sites with how obviously fake it is. I predict this will end 1 of 3 ways:

1) uploader keeps making "video proofs" and comes up with some elaborate story on why we should give donations or some other way to exploit the morons who believe in this
2) uploader comes clean and admits it's fake and either has some lame "reason" for doing it("look how many views i gotz! this proofs that a real dev needs to give us n64!") or lols at us for being trolled
3) uploader gets scared because he got more publicity than he bargained for, is worried about possible backlash, and disappears

Well Greg if you posted this I GUESS you believe it's real, though the comments assume otherwise. I was working with "others" to make a N64 emulator for the ps3,(opensource) and we welcomed any and all coders who knew what they were doing and(possibly more than us) to contribute. We're not at a release and have more work to do, but if this is real there's no need for us to continue(no need for 2 n64 emulators for the ps3, when there's more things that we could be working on)

Guess we'll just have to wait and see...
Also we WILL NOT STOP development untill this is comfirmed real or fake...

I think this is real if we can run N64 on a PSP we can run it on the PS3 just give it some time. The ps3 has only been hacked for 6 months the PSP on the other hand has been hacked for years and look at all the homebrew and apps it has just give it some time people!

Also Greg, not that you should post this or anything(unless you just want to, just thought you should know), but a collage of mine,(by the name of Dark Sier) along with others are working on a ps2 emulator for the ps3. They unlike us could release it at any time now, seeing as how it runs about 70 to 80 percent of the games they've been testing at somewhere between 50-60fps.

It also should be noted it's base on the pcsx2 emulator for PC..

The reason the "audio is not working" is because the video cuts to another system would give up away. I'm certain in video three, around 30 seconds he cuts from a TV to a Psp. Psp speakers, even through a camera from 1999 would still sound definite and memorable over a tv speaker set. That, and the camera never leaves the face to face vicinity of whatever display he's using.

Regarding that silly "it's a mobile phone it's hard" excuse, I have a Razr V3, an old nokia phone, A few old clam shell phones, a T-mobile G1, and n Itouch. Not a single one is impossible or difficult to hold on one hand. I find it in fathomable that this person is having such difficulty with it.

Don't get your hopes up yet Devon... We have to sit tight and see if this is real... I'm hoping it is as I myself have been working with a team on a similar project. Were not this far yet but we will continue to work untill it's done... As for this just wait it out and see if we get a download in a week or two... otherwise, this just a guy who really want a n64 emulator as well... so much in fact, he'd fake it hoping someone would take the issue serious and develop one(which we're already doing anyway.....)

I'm Keeping a close eye on this and others sites so if it's comfirmed true in a couple of days somewhere else I'll inform everyone...(though I doubt I'll beat Greg to it!! :)

i think is really fake - mostly because after they run some program on the ps3, the go really close to the tv - at 32 seconds (or press 3 on the youtube vid) they cut the video and its a different tv (finger print markings)
