ThatOtherDev: Source code and homebrew updates

Submitted by greg; December 14, 2011

In fine homebrew fashion ThatOtherDev has released the source code to everything he's ever written for the PS3; I'm talking like 15 different games ... some we covered here, some we haven't. Whatever the case, if you wanna know how it's made, then you'll want to check this out.

Compiled fresh using PSL1GHT are the latest versions of each and every game for the PS3:

And with those pkgs comes the source code ... all of it! You can download the entire source code archive here or here. It's a wealth of information. And if you need to setup a dev. environment, check out this post.

What's been updated in terms of games? I quote ThatOtherDev:

Many of them have been updated but mostly in fairly trivial ways. The player turns to face the direction they are moving in Gambol, one of the levels in Swingball 2 has been remade, Goodbye World has been largely rewritten but should look and play the same as before, The Unmapped Forest has an added title screen, etc.

Now on a final note: ThatOtherDev is taking a short break from the PS3 homebrew scene. He's gotta take care of some Wii business first. In the meantime, jam the above and let him know what game to focus on upon his return. Several games there show definite potential. Get at him at his blog (the source below).

Thanks to ThatOtherDev I would love to play around with PSL1GHT, but stupidly I updated my PS§ instead of buying a new one ;)

I really hope there will be a possibility to run homebrews again soon. I would love to have a real web browser on my PS3.
