Uncharted 3 isn't just an incremental update, we did change lots and lots of things - but graphically speaking, it's not going to have the same gap as between Uncharted 1 and 2. It was never going to happen. The way we made it, how much of the PS3's power we were using...that huge gap that you saw between Uncharted 1 and 2 is the kind of thing that really only happens once per generation. We pushed it really hard. Uncharted 2 to 3 is still a jump, but it's a narrower jump. And going forward, it depends on what we do. But I don't think you'll ever see that same jump again, at least on a PlayStation 3. There was just so much power left over in the PS3 when we made Uncharted 1 that we figured out how to use and really took it to town when developing Uncharted 2.This is news that was all to expected and should be a huge wake up call for Sony to get off their ass and start making some promises, because lets face it...if your biggest exclusive is out of fire power, so are you! Regardless of this I do plan to end on a positive note, and that note is as of the following. Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception received its first review from a Spanish game magazine and backed up its hype with a phenomenal 9.9/10...astonishing. Let me know your thoughts.

its common sence that after all these years theres only so much more devs can push a console.
but keeping that in mind the games are still looking better and now that a new unreal engine is out its obviouse that devs wont be able to take full advantage without more resources.
just shame cheap ass nintendo's next gen is yet again going to be a last gen system with a turd controller that will never beat a simple control pad.
wii was piss poor just a redisgned GC and the Wii U is just a ps3/360 with ipad clone controller, but all the nintendorks will flock out like sheep to buy it to find yet again another system lacking great titles to the likes of Uncharted, Gears of War ect, just turd party this party that titles...

pushed the ps3 to the max already, now they need a ps4 with more
processing power and memory to an uncharted4 :)

the biggest problem in the ps3 is the amount of RAM memory. it's more than ps2 but not a big difference to xbox or old pc games.
now the needs are minimum 4gb ram! to store huge arenas, huge hd racing tracks, hd textures, and so on...
its all HD in ps3, cpu, hdmi, BD-rom.... but RAM is not. its a fast one, but not big

"Remember when the ps3 first came out they said 3rd party ppl didn't like making games for the ps3 cuz it was so hard for them to use it."
Umm no, 3rd party developers didn't like programming PS3 because it uses a proprietary cell architecture that is cost prohibitive for multi-platform publishers.
The reason first party PS3 titles are so superior is precisely because these developers devote all their attention to optimizing and maxing out the PS3 architecture without having to worry about writing several versions of the same code-base.
The PS3 has reached it technical capacity in terms of processing power and if significant advances are to be made a new system will be required to achieve them.

i take you know nothing about console games.
when ND claim they couldnt make the leap with Uncharted 3 like they did with 1 v 2 is because of the hardware.
if they tried to do this on the PS3 the game would lag, it would be like trying to run a PC game at full spec on a system that lacks the power to handle it.
and taking the new gaming engines devs are creating that handle more environmental animation lighting, improved a.i improved visual textures, improved models, larger worlds all this needs more power to run a engine to handle all this.
take EA when they stated there was so much they wanted to do with Crysis 2 but wasnt possible due to the fact the consoles lacked the resources compared to PCs so they had to dum down the console versions engine.
now is that because theyre lacking ideas nope?? or lacking console power

The PS3 is a processing monster so much that they designed it in a way where the processor is fast enough to handle ram functions.
The problem is the 256 RAM even though it is XDR RAM it still isn't enough these days.
If the PS3 would have included at least 4GB RAM (even if it was a slower DDR2), it would have dominated for decades.

How is it a joke. Look up the PS3 specs and you'll see for yourself.

I agree with illicious completely but if they did everything in one system then it would cause the company so much problems on advancing itself. Personally I say they are using Apple techniques (iPhone in particular). They leave major problems in previous models such as camera then ram then bluetooth, they can make the next model even better.
I say Sony really know how to please consumers but as for consumers wants, i dont think a playstation 4 is needed at the moment.

I Agree with ppl who say Ps3 system does not have enought RAM. 256Mb....
and as far as i know no console ever has had a game graphically better than PC. Not old 8bit nor 16Bit SuperFamicom or Genesis nor 32bit consoles and of course not actual ones.
What I miss most is the lack of FSAA...Gears Of War 2 is a "saw" game ( it is an Xbox title, i know ) and GT5 is another good example.
And what I most dislike of actual games is that most companies center their "game experience" in graphics instead of gameplay, so you can see horribles remakes like "Golden AXE" which is awfull or castlevania titles...
Please more games with a story like Uncharted, and less bullshit half-good-looking games....
Ideas are cheap, high gaming graphics are expensive, so center in the most important...
Javi.

I agree about the joke it is a good one. Something no one so far has mentioned is the SPEED of the PS3 ram it is RIDICULOUS. It is the way the console was made instead of loading large textures into the ram with mandatory load waits and THEN running it, you stream the game with a continuous load and play which is why those First Party Developers Kick so much A&& because of how they program. What this means is that the Crytek Engine will NOT run well on the PS3 but it still only uses a small portion of its potential, whereas Crystal tools for example just keeps getting better. (I am actually surprised that no one so far has mentioned Square Enix in a thread about graphics potential) Point is I agree with the boys at Naughty Dog that there is not much else they could have improved but that is due to their STYLE of programming and TYPE of engine, other companies are having none of these problems.............That and i also don't Sh&*t money so i DO NOT wanna have to go get another console when my current one still has more than enough power to get the job done.......RANT OVER :)

#1. It's "common sense" not "common sence"
#2. Nintendo's angle has always been innovation. I know that's a big word for someone that can't spell sense.
#3. Why would we need another copy of Call of Duty or any of those other games that "everyone" is playing ?
#4. Based on numbers 1-4 you are a sheep too, even more so because you simply lack the creative imagination to just explore what something has to offer.
#5. You just got PWND

ps3 is better graphic than many pc that make in 1998. It just we can not upgrade our ps3. If we can do like a pc. PS3 will last forever like a pc.
I did upgrade my pc that I buy 3 years ago. It still can play many good games today.
