PS3 3.41/3.55 Rebug CFW + 0.4/0.6 Update

Rebug.me seem to be the only developers of CFW who are frequently working on 3.41/3.55, and if you are interested in installing their CFW then here is a simple tutorial giving you the run down on exactly how to do that.
You will need - Winrar, Rebug CFW 3.41 or 3.55, a USB formatted as FAT32, a PS3 on 3.41 or 3.55.
1. Download the Rebug CFW and extract that to wherever you wish. You need to rename the PS3 CFW file to "PS3UPDAT.PUP". Make a folder on the root of your USB called "PS3". Inside that make another folder called "UPDATE", then inside that folder copy the CFW file you downloaded.
2. Put your PS3 into the recovery menu (safe mode). (with your PS3 powered off, hold down the power button until it beeps a total of 3 times, then it will turn off. Then press/hold the power button again and it will beep once, once more and then twice consecutively. Let go of the power button and you will be in "safe mode").
3. Plug in your USB and then in Safe Mode select System update, and follow the prompts.
Once the update is complete congratulations, you are now on 3.41 or 3.55 Rebug CFW.
It is also recommended you install the 0.4 (3.41) or 0.6 (3.55) update for the CFW you installed. This can be found here and is installed using the Package Manager.

Thanks for the info holmes it's really appreciated and don't pay any mind to losers like kimdalanxa, some people do need the vids and stuff to get things done right, and dashhacks is known for helping as well as informing

It's not called safe mode, it's called the recovery menu. It's also easier to remember when to let go by waiting until you hear 2 quick consecutive beeps.

you forgot to mention the part of running the update after you installed the update package
they are in pkg_manager/install/ps3 hdd

If you are on Kmeaw and you are comfortable with the way things are, don't worry about installing it. Similar functionality, just Rebug provides some more features specific to the CFW.

I have updated the article to say both recovery menu and safe mode. It is known by both names in the community, personally I just call it safe mode. Thanks for pointing it out.

I bricked my FAT console whist updating the FW, now i get black screen, any suggestions?

will there ever be a cfw for those on the latest ofw if not then what are all these rumors that there is one im just asking out of curiousity as i would love to find a way to prevent online cheating as its a losers way of making themselfs feel they have skills maybe a ps3 version of PUNKBUSTER that would be awsome

Any real reason to go from 3.41 JB with ipod to this if everything is good now? Will it only eliminate having to use the ipod? Also, if I do choose to upgrade should I go to 3.55. I have a FAT console, so also don't want to brick it of course!

I'm on 3.41 JB with Ti-84 (Slim), and this tutorial almost made me update to 3.55.6 rebug. I want to upgrade essentially to play PSN games released by EXEtrimALL and DUPLEX, although i never conneted to PSN, but there isn't a
clear, noobproof, tutorial for that. And the report of bricks on fw updades to rebug isn't soothing.
