KillerBug's PS3 LED/Fan/Thermal Sensor Mod

This is pretty awesome -- one of the coolest PS3 hardware mods I've seen -- KillerBug's LED/Fan/Thermal Mod. KillerBug uses an Arduino Pro Mini 3.3v to read the CPU, GPU, NorthBridge and Air Intake temperatures. The front mounted seven-segment display (SSD), which goes unnoticed when the console is powered off, cycles through the four temperatures and fan speed in a sexy, neon blue colour. The fan speed is then set according to the current temperatures. Check it out:

Systems should come with something like this built in specially since both the xbox and PS3 has serious overheating issues. That way you would know if your ps3 or xbox is about to meltdown.

...but then again, it doesn't really surprise me, with it's small case and all

Just like the xbox. xbox360, ps2 etc. they all made cheaply! and all eventually overheat! evenn if you mod it, it the room your playing in is hot, then how the hell can it cool down!!!!!! im and engineer and ive never seen a good cure. with all the mods, they still break. just turn itoff and cool down.

only one person i know who has never has a console overheat, and he lives in a caravan! where it stays cold forever!!!!!!!! !!

I think he does not have the sensors or fans calibrated right. There is no need to have the fans running that fast unless he lives in the Sahara desert. I have a thermometer reading my PS3 CPU temp. I manually adjust the fan so that its not too loud and i can keep the CPU at around 40ºC
