Rogero Releases 4.30 CFW

While you may have already chalked up to Rogero, you can prepare to do it all again. Rogero has released a 4.30 custom firmware for CEX (Retail) consoles, which is also the latest available official firmware from Sony. If you've been hanging back on a 3.55/4.25 custom firmware, this may be the time to update now. Here are the release notes for the CFW:

Compatibility problem with some PS3 models is now fully fixed.
XMB Icons problem from in-game PS button is now fixed. (Using the Patch included in the package: "PS3~dev_blind.zip")
PSN/SEN access is available as long as the current "passphrase" still the same.
Loading games from App_home Icon is now fixed.
It was tested by hundreds of testers on all PS3 models (FAT & Slim) and no problems were encountered.
It can run games signed with Keys up to version 4.30 without any Eboot/Sprx patching needed
Games can be loaded from Disc Icon (with Original game in BD) and from app_home (Disc-less, but not all games).
Current 3.55 homebrew applications can't be loaded on this CFW, applications must be re-signed properly for FW4.21/4.30

As with installing any custom firmware, there are also warnings:

1- This CFW doesn't have LV1 checks disabled and can't be installed on Downgraded PS3 consoles unless you have Dehashed/Reset Syscon Properly (if you're not sure about your PS3, Dehash it anyway to avoid any risk) Link ----> Dehashing Tutorial

2- Always make a NOR/Nand dump using multiMAN or memdump before installing any CFW to have a recovery backup in case of any bricks.
Having a valid NOR/Nand dump is an essential step before upgrading, because you will always have a way to recover (using hardware flashers) when you have a valid dump.
** A Hardware Flasher alone without a valid dump may not fix your bricked PS3 **

3- The QA flag must be always Enabled on your PS3 for safer upgrading/downgrading operations. Link ----> toggle_qa.pkg

4- Always use the Recovery Menu while installing this CFW to avoid possible bricks (XMB update works, but Recovery Menu is safer).

5- Please Check the MD5 of the downloaded PUP file before installing any CFW to avoid possible bricks.

6- DO NOT HAVE DISC IN PS3 WHEN UPDATING FIRMWARES..As the PS3 will take the UPDATE from the DISC First.

7- You need to already be on 3.55 to install this. Installing from any firmware other than 3.55 will simply not work. (In regards to consoles on OFW)

I wouldn't say useless , but I do agree that those if us stuck in newer OFW , be it our fault or not, aren't getting much love in the CFW front. I for example was on CFW 3.55 but YLOD on me when I got it fixed the guy updated and formatted my HDD. Then it died again so I got a new one but its on 4.25 OFW. So ill just wait .

Again not useless. Also you're in a third world country, but you have a ps3. You are worried about e3 flasher. You should just be happy with what you have.These so called useless CFW allow for Devs to get a closer look at the inner workings of new Firmwares. Im sure as time progresses people will figure out how to jump directly from OFW to CFW. Just wait and be patient.

This is really great progress made.

As said, the real breakthrough would be a CFW for OFW 4.x users. Anybody any idea by how long from now this major milestone is expected ?

I jumped the gun last night and updated to E3s 4.30 CFW last night. I'll try this one when I get home from work.

I can say that the E3 one wasn't very impressive... But my Tiger Woods Masters 2012 backup worked fine. My DOA 5 backup did not work tho. The game would start but would give an error when I tried to go to character select.

I own a 60GB PS3 firt generation (fat) I install Rogero 4.30 over kmea 3.55, and works. So far I play FIFA 13 not working maybe cause of the patch for 3.55 (Idk) how ever other games with patches like Saint Seiya Santuary is working. I keep you guys updated.

I've never touched my PS3 since the Wanincoco firmware update. Was lucky I didn't get bricked.

Can I directly update from Wanincoco 3.55?

Will play with it once more, and sync/collect the few trophies from few games I achieved.

If I am on CFW 3.55 KMEAW since the begining of the scene. Might have installed a spoofer (I think it was 3.6 at that time).
Can I just install that new CFW from revovery menu right away ?
Or what I should do first ?

I was on kmeaw 3.55 and had a spoofer on it and had no problems upgrading to rogero 4.3 cfw. Just make sure you follow the steps as mentioned and you should be fine.

If you are in an official firmware there is no way for you to downgrade unless you have the e3 flasher.

Installed this last night, can't seem to play any backed up games without an their original disk in the drive. I've tried both the disk icon and the /app_home/ selection. Each just leads to a black screen then jumps back to XMB. Any help?

Ok here is my question. Is 3.55CFW absolutely necessary or is it just precautionary to have the 3.55CFW dump just in case. Or can I upgrade from 4.25OFW to Rogero 4.30CFW. Im just wondering cause it seems weird that the system has to be downgraded to 3.55OFW or CFW with like almost all flags reset just to update to the new CFW.

The problem seems to be that after 3.55, Sony added checks that will not allow to upgrade to CFW. Hence the need to be on 3.55

Excellent response. Very good explanation and easy for me to understand.
Now that I know that it seems like just a matter of time the Devs find those checks and disable them, or sing CFW as spoofed so that the system believes they are OFW and install a CFW as an OFW.
Great progress. I hope this trend continues. I wish I had the knowledge to help the process along, but I don't.

hey "DMKEE1" if you have instaled patches in pkg format in your ps3 to run your games in 3.55 or 3.41 fw you have to delete them, after you delet run the game normal mode with one original in the tray, if you have games that you have patched the eboot directly in the game folder you have to download the original eboot for that games, but some games are working whith the modified eboot and some are not, in that case you have to download the original eboot, i have updated from 3.55 kmeaw to rogero 4.30 to days ago and all of my 96 games are working, i hope to help you and all that are having the same problem, sorry my bad inglish im portuguese :)

yes, if the game fw to play it is lower than 4.30, but before you upgrade to rogero 4.30 go back to 3.55 ofw and then upgrade to the rogero 4.30, wallays upgrade from the recovery menu.

when I try to install the cfw in 76% of the installation sends me an error stating that the data is corrupted, I try in safe mode ps3 sending me the same error, even trying with different cfw.
