Rogero 4.3 and 4.21 CEX V2 Released

Rogero has been a pretty big player in the PS3 scene these days with his own brand of custom firmware. While it has been a little time since we have seen any substantial progress from such work, today brings the dawn of version 2 for 4.30 and 4.21 custom firmware options. As you can bet the list of new features here is really quite exhaustive, but I'm going to do my best to fill you guys in on all of the more key details. Quite possibly the biggest overall change here is that the firmware itself has been more or less completely redesigned from the ground up to work with more of the official firmware files. Instead of using a hodgepodge of DEX and CEX mods like it has been done in the past, this alteration provides for a much more stable overall experience and makes sure that all OFW options are fully accessible to you.

In addition to this, XMB sorting issues and Demo Mode issues from the previous version have also been ironed out to a great degree. Direct disc loading is also possible provided you are using multiMAN version 04.12.00. If you are updating from a non-downgraded console, an additional system integrity checker has also been installed in an effort to prevent bricking. Once you are there however, you'll be really glad to know that version numbers have been spoofed to 4.31 and SEN access has been restored provided the current "passphrase" is still the same. There are also of course many more small developmental size changes that deal with the specifics of lv01 and lv02 patching, but I'll let you all observe that in the complete changelog. Essentially if you're looking for the best Rogero CFW experience out there right now, there is no reason not to try this new version 2. If you are updating from a CFW console please make sure you have multiMAN version 04.12.00 before you do so! Let the CFW madness continue!

SAME RULES APPLY, you MUST be coming from 3.55, if you have a hardware flasher then you can downgrade to 3.55 and move up to this 4.30, you simply cannot install this on any firmware after 3.55 due to security patches put in place by Sony that are yet to be cracked, once they are then it will be ALL over this site that updated from any firmware is possible.

I don't believe so, I too am stuck on 3.72 and I believe for the moment we either need a hardware flasher or wait for an exploit before we can install a cfw.

Unfortunately you cant since you r on ofw higher tnah 3.55 at least not directly think its possible with a hardware downgrader but cant help you there since im not familiar with the process.

NO is the simplest answer, you will need to use progskeet or E3 hardware flasher if you are on OFW. You can only upgrade to one of the new CFW's if your system is on CFW 3.55 or lower

Is no one working on breaking the latter FW without downgrading or using hardware flashers? Its kind of lonely on OFW 4.21

Yes I was on the same. You may have to go into service menu and install from there. Totally safe.

I don't think that will work, for starters it's significatly safer to go back down to rogero's 3.7x(3.55) then back to OFW/CFW 3.55 then back to 4.30 doesn't take too long and it's the safest option

Whats the point even posting all of this, it all does absolutely nothing for the common user. Theres no use getting excited over something that most people cant even use, Find an exploit to install on higher OFWs and there will be actual news, other than that these lil updates do very little to the vast majority of playstation users, We should focus on a user friendly method of installing these so that anyone could use it, rather than building apoun something thats really no different than 3.55 with different keys, Great ya progress but in the wrong direction. What good is it too update a cfw to a higher firmware if you cannot even use it without being on either 3.55 first or owning a hardware flasher, which usually tend to be pretty pricey. Think of the larger audience out there, just my imput on this situation is all.
There is a way to do it, you just have to focus more on it, and not updating a firmware that only select individuals may use "3.55/Hardware Flasher possessing users"

I understand your frustration. It's not that people aren't trying, it's just that Sony hasn't really made that same mistake again. I have to report it for the whole bunch of other people that commented above you that can use this. Trust me, if any other OFW hacks come out you will be among the first to know.

I hade CFW 3.55 with a 4.21 spoofer. I installed the cfw 4.31 directly cus I didnt know how to take the spoofer away. My install was a succes but my destination "intall package files" dissapeared. So my problem is that I can't install a new manager. Any help? Thx
