Everything You Need To Know To Install 4.30 CFW (From 3.55 CFW)

I've been putting off updating my PS3 to 4.30 CFW merely because I didn't understand a few things about it, and now I have taken that step, and turned that into a tutorial for you fine people to follow whether you are as hesitant as I was, or just new to the hacking scene.

 

The tutorial below is a video step by step showing you how to take your 3.55 CFW PS3 to the next level and move up to 4.30 CFW.  The CFW in question is 4.30.1 CFW by REBUG to be exact, and I chose this since REBUG has been the best experience for me so far with my PS3 hacking.

 

How To Install 4.30 PS3 CFW (From 3.55 CFW) - Note that you NEED to be on 3.55 CFW before doing this.  If you are on 4.30 OFW it won't work.  You also need to QA flag your PS3 which you can read about on my previous article here.  Enjoy the video, stay safe with your hacking and if there are any questions the comment section below or on my video can be the host for those!

Hey Holmes, thanks for the tut! I have two questions left before upgrading(used TB 3.55 cwf until now):

1: Will all my games i have saved on my internal HDD so far will be deleted when i install the REBUG cfw 4.30?

2: I have made backups of games on an external HDD, all games with patched eboot.bin for 3.55 cfw, of course. Will those games work when i try to re-install them on internal HDD or will only those games be able to be installed that are unpatched?

Hey Hermes77!

In regards to your first question, the update will not delete anything in terms of games/homebrew etc. All HDD content is untouched.

With your patched games however, I have seen comments on my video and on other sites with this video reporting patched games don't work. If you can unpatch them then that should fix it =]

Just re do the eboot etc on the games via ftp with the original for that game and they should work. ;-)

Hi Guys! And Christ thanks for the tut! Followed this... BUT my PS3 rather than upgrading to 4.30 Rebug.. Turned to the 2.60 version :o Any ideas? :sad: Any help would be appreciated :sad:

Just finished the process and now when I run anything I had installed previously I get error codes. 80010017 An error occurred during the start operation. This is happening to all my files from Multiman and pkg files I had installed to ps3 games stored on the hdd. The only things that are workning are my ps3 disks, and my psn ps1 games but others including purchased content fail. What is the fix? I was previously on 3.55 Kreaw, I did the Q/A flagging then went to safemode and installed the rebug 4.30.1 cfw. Any ideas?

For anything on 3.55 pkg files they need to be resigned for 4.30 CFW. In regards to backed up games if they are patched then remove the patches so they are just standard back ups. they should work after that I hope.
