It's been a while since users have had any REAL and genuine update to their custom firmware, sure developers can add plugins and bug fixes to make the user experience deeper and more stable, but in general the 3.55 interface is something that all PS3 scene members have become accustomed to. However, if you're looking for something to give you a more official looking coat of paint, a 4.25 custom firmware is here to give you all of those OFW features with all of the CFW goodness. Because of the higher version number, for now you will have more or less free reign of the PSN as well as your homebrew on top of being able to boot a whole mess of new games. Although it should be noted however that recent reports do say that despite the fact that you can boot from any USB device, there are still some undocumented game compatibility issues.
So for a lot of you, the next question will be "how can I get it." Unfortunately the devs don't exactly make this an easy process. To begin, you'll have to head on over to their website which will then require you to send an email request for a firmware key to their admins. Once the key is entered you will then have to surrender your console's EID0 dump to them where a completely custom made PUP file will then be made to work exclusively on your system. I know, quite the hassle right? Still users have been reporting receiving their keys quite quickly, so you may not have to spend too much time waiting around if you're lucky. There are going to be lots of reports about this firmware so I will try to stay on top of things as much as I can. Until I hear more, you are welcome to click the link to get the process started and report back. The scene has just received quite the surprise!

From cfwprpht: Lv0 is resigned and the most of you know what that means. But anyway something good, they don't have 4.00-4.11 priv key. They still use 3.55 but first we need lv0 static key or we find a other way.
From keytor69: CDKey app does perform a check online at 67.198.173.122.CUSTOMER.KRYPT.COM port 8090, notice the word CUSTOMER and not USER.. won't be long before everybody needs 4.30 CD Keys and then get to see the real cost of things.
From PS3Nor on this 'bad joke' dubbed BlueDisk: please send me your Eid0 key.. LOL: we will drm your console and then charge you mega bucks. ok sounds great LOL #nochance
From Flat_z: guys, stop buying a stupid key you don't need it really
And last but not least:
From deank: I'm not touching this firmware even remotely.
Apparently it is a multi-stage thing. After you send them your dump, there is also some sort of CDKey like verification. This key is tied to your console and can only be activated once supposedly. There is speculation that once you are using this, there might not be a way to go back and they will start charging for future updates. There is much more info than I can fit in here. I have put up the news I have been able to find in a pastebin.

Have you actually looked into this firmware? And what makes you think it won't make your ps3 go black in a few weeks and then have you banned from Sony's list?
With all that email and key bullshit, that should be pretty obvious.
