gitbrew Releases FreeBSD LiveCD w/ Partial RSX Support

Submitted by greg; September 13, 2011

The gitbrew team, despite all the scene drama, continues working on their RSX project, now releasing a FreeBSD LiveCD with partial RSX driver support, supporting your high-def set up to a max resolution of 1920x1080 (for now). Now this LiveCD won't boot without prepping your PS3 first... You'll need the OtherOS++ CFW installed and configured prior to anything FreeBSD (or Linux). Check gitbrew's Wiki ... there is a wealth of information there to get you up and running. You can grab the FreeBSD LiveCD ISO for PS3 right here. And the other, most up-to-date OtherOS++ tools (CFW, pkgs, etc.) here. RSX -- Reality Synthesizer -- is a proprietary graphics processor co-developed by NVIDIA and Sony. - source: @gitbrew

A pergunta é o seguinte:
Cadê as CFW´s ? Será que não haverá mais como desbloqueiar os
OFW?

Not for a while you see what a windows PC needs to get 50 - 60FPS on an emulator...It's not a matter of processing speed as much as it is RAM.

even with the RSX unlocked and the high bandwidth of the PS3 the lack of RAM will make it very difficult.  Not impossible but very difficult.

I can't understand you sorry. If you mean you would like to format the current distribution on the PS3, then yes you will have to if you want to Install this FreeBSD Version.

You can optionally run this from the CD Alone without the need to install it, hence "Live CD".

There's no point towards the average user in having "Partial RSX" support, because Gitbrew already stated they released a driver which it wasn't even a Full Driver.

Until a developer patches things into a working driver Linux can utilize and draw objects with the GPU then things will get interesting/better, until then you're best off using Graf_Chokolo's Linux Kernel until a REAL RSX Driver gets released.
