AsbestOS is a fully independent open source payload and does not contain any code from the original PSJailbreak payload or derivatives. It is licensed under the GPLv2. Compiling it does not require any SDK tools, and it includes a script to build a fully vanilla GNU toolchain for the PS3. If youre interested, check out the git repository. The README file contains information on how to run AsbestOS and how to set up kernels. Currently, ports exist for software USB AVRs (Arduino etc.), iPods, and the reference implementation for devices with a TI OMAP3, but anything currently running PSGroove or similar can be adapted with only a few lines of new code.In its current state AsbestOS isn't quite ready for the end-user. I mean you can give it a go -- it's not that difficult to setup -- especially if you're well versed in linux. Check out marcan's blog post to learn absolutely everything you need to. P.S. the TI-84+ port has AsbestOS support already.

Not quite sure on how Linux handles Qemu but this would be the perfect setup for running it to run, excuse the pun, OtherOS's lol. A nice cut down, non resource hogging linux setup
Anyone clued up on Linux know if Qemu would need a special version compiling to use the full access to the PS3, or would it automatically use all resources the Linux OS has access to?
A lot of people have been waiting for Linux, especially those that had it in the past and lost it to play newer games/online. And now slims can use it too

i like your pace dude, you really do change the playing field altogether. Didn't think that someone was going to use gameOS to run linux this quick. I thought it would be a good 6 months away or something like that.

In grub there should be two options, run Linux, and run PS3 GameOS
Kudos to the AsbestOS developer!

But you should probably sell your computer and stick to a less advanced calculator.
To run linux on the ps3 doesn't hurt the game developers so put back your head in the sand and keep on buying everything you see on the commercials.
