Venice - Tomb Raider II
There's no denying that the very first Tomb Raider game was important in establishing what the action genre could do using 3D polygons, but the sequel to that game served a much more important function. It took those core mechanics that worked so well and improved upon them in such a way that it already had brought the series into maturity. With the the original Tomb Raider, it was fun running and gunning through all those caves, so a lot of us never thought that a game like this could help us see the beauty in the actual world that exists beyond something sheltered in stone. We were proven wrong once we hit Venice.

As soon as the level began, gamers were taken in by the sheer glistening of the water around you. Not only that, but with Lara being such a great swimmer, we knew that we would be able to trek through every single ounce of it. The possibilities seemed limitless. Even for the PSOne Core and Eidos did an amazing job of setting us up to feel that we were in a larger than life world. As if that prospect couldn't get any sweeter, we were then greeted by the idea of piloting a speedboat at several miles per hour through all of it. Not just on land, but also on jumps that lead through massive windows too. The enemies with dogs were no match for Lara either. In the grand scheme of things, this level was a winner, and a real perfect demo piece for the entire title.
Sure the levels were awesome but what about the cheats? The nineties was a boon-era for cheat codes and Tomb Raider always had some of the best!
