Did you accidentally upgrade your PS3 past the point of custom firmware? Have you been dying to see what Linux looks like on your big TV? If so, today just might be your lucky day!
With the previous release of this disc almost two years ago, the scene was certainly a different place the last time PS2 users got their taste of Linux. Still, showing commitment to the cause Mega Man is back with his latest release of PS2 Linux bringing the tally up to version 3.
So what can users expect with this new version of the software? The biggest change to note is that this particular build is going to work on any PS2 modded or not! That means anybody who has an old and dusty system in their basement is going to have the opportunity to try it out (provided you dont have any disc read error issues.)
While I will leave much of the functions of this software for you two discover, installing this on your system will allow you to perform tasks like play Youtube videos, browse the web, and even run emulators from websites. Essentially if youre looking to breathe new life into your PS2 while you wait out the next jailbreak, this is an awesome solution.

don't think so. im just as much a noob as anybody when it comes to this, but based on the differences in consoles, the ps3 is different in terms of firmware and laser configurations. it can read some ps2 games, but not necessarily run what the ps2 can (ps2 not being native to the ps3).
if you feel lucky, its worth a shot... not recommended though...

The clue is in the title "PS2 Linux Live..." this post is misleading because it is on the ps3 site but this is for Playstation 2 only :/

Um.... Last i can recall the playstation 2 never had an issue with linux cuz sony couldnt and didnt try to block it out? Only thing you needed to buy if you wanted it was the hard drive package. Which give you the cool hookups for ps2 to VGA ^^

I have the network adaptor for the PS2 (witch let you plug a hdd) & I opened it up to be able to move the hdd power plug about 5 mm & now any IDE drive can fit in ... (but you dont have the metal bracket holding the hdd)
Of course you need an old PHAT PS2 !

Are you retarded ? The original PS3s have the emoition chip, which is essentially a PS2 inside the PS3.
