PS Downgrade Bounty; Deliver an Open Source Solution and Win!

I know many of you out there are just dying to hack your PS3, but unfortunately you're sitting at firmware 3.42 or 3.50, right? Now if you have a few extra bucks to blow then no biggie -- buy the PS Jailbreak device and PS Downgrade software -- you're set. But lets say you'd rather save your money for something cooler, or better yet, you possess mad skills and want to pocket some extra duckets to take your girlfriend somewhere nice, well here's your chance to shine... Be the first to deliver us (Dashhacks) a working open-source solution of PS Downgrade and we'll give you $500 USD (via PayPal). We have some files that may help get you started:

PS Downgrade Files: contains a modified 3.41 PUP file, Lv2diag.self.1 (used to flash the PUP), Lv2diag.self.2 (takes the console out of factory/service mode after the fact), PS Updater (the software used to flash the PS Jailbreak device), and an FLA file specific to my PS Jailbreak (this file is flashed to PS Jailbreak via PS Updater).
Pendragon and Co. has dumped the USB traffic from PS Downgrade. You can find those data dumps right here. You'll also need Beagle Data Center software to read/analyze 'em.

If anyone else has/knows anything that may be of use in reverse engineering PS Downgrade, please share via the comments. It won't work. It has to be a firmware further back than whatever the first Slim's shipped with (I have one but can't remember what it was lol). But then again if there is something in the flash or so on Slim's where the OtherOS option is just blocked out no matter what. Hopefully not though.

Props to Greg for this bounty. You are a true pure hearted scener! I remember you used to run prizes on homebrew back in the PSP days, and again you keep up with the generosity.

Hi everybody, I have a questions. Its not regarding reversing the JB downgrade. As I am too waiting for an open source version. LOL

However my question is in regards to PSN. I have 5 friends who own a ps3, so we all decided to chip in and buy street fighter 2 turbo HD remix and distribute among our 5 conoles. I made a seperate user on my PS3 and atatched my friends account to it and downloaded the sf2thdr game. When i played online I could play the first 1 or 2 games online, but then the game would freeze and i would be promted with the message "you have been diconected from the Playastation (R) network". then I get returned to the title screen. This keeps happeneing again and again once its happen untill I reboot the game. I can then play 1 or 2 fights online and it happens again. This does not happen on any other game. Not even ssf4 of bomberman ultra. So why this game. Any ideas Guys, I have tried to delete and redownload the game on my ps3 but still no luck. :(. HELP!!!

I, and I'm sure others too, appreciate your enthusiasm. But this stuff takes years to learn, and then many more years to master.

It's 1,600+ pages long, and covers just assembly. It's pretty intense in places, but really well written and informative.

I'd imagine it'll take about a year, or two to finish and understand/remember at a basic level. Unfortunately, no one is going to be able to teach you, especially through e-mail.

Yes money does indeed make the world go around. Thing is, most good hackers have the skill since they are well paid programmers etc.
More incentive is through pi$$ing off the PSJB team and their "community" (pronounced personal bank accounts), as well as beating $ony at their own game, even if only for a few days.
This is a glory sport, not about money.

yeah and i just finished compiling the source also it does work like a dream. service mode sucks b/c it only states you have a 30 gig hdd no matter what size is installed. but any way's i'm from russia and

the first is the dummy key and the second is the encrypted master key. Guys you can't find the master key on internet cause if anyone have the master key and want to publish it he goes on psx*scene publish the key and become a hero ;).

Isnt it able to edit the update of 3.50 like with a hex editor to 3.41 And have the soft that you have on 3.50 but still on firmware 3.41. And use ps3 spoof 3.50 after that?

the p3grade's future is looking kind of bleak now. i just might have to get an official psjailbreak now that they're offering the downgrade software for free with unlimited downgrades/upgrades. i dunno....trying to be patient and see what develops but i think we would have an open source by now if we were ever going to have one. the scene has tapered off BIG time. almost at a stand still.
