Showtime Test Build Update v3.5.110

Submitted by tbag; April 09, 2012

The PS3 Developer known as Andreas Oman has delivered an update to his widely used Showtime Mediacenter. That's right Showtime has received another update today making it officially to Showtime 3.5.110, Apparently after the last update (v3.5.72) an error was discovered involving the SPU decoder and has now been fixed along with some minor audio issues. The thing to remember is that this is still a test build so stability may not be as good as a full release but if you want to try it out you can.  So enjoy and have a read of the change log below.

Changelog:

3.5.110-g843527f
  • ps3: Fix playback of 3.0 audio

3.5.108-g6775194
  • ps3: Fix support for 4.0 audio channel layout

3.5.105-ga4e10cc
  • ps3: Round timestamps to ms precision before feeding them to the SPU decoder
  • For some unholy reason the SPU decoder seems to hang when timestamps are not
  • rounded to ms precision. I've no idea why.

3.5.69-ga3159fe
  • PS3: Use jemalloc instead of newlib's malloc
  • Using jemalloc significantly reduces memory fragmentation
  • and thus mitigates the out of memory conditions that happens
  • now and then when using Showtime (in particular during movie
  • playback)
  • It's also much more efficient than newlib's malloc thanks
  • to per-thread caching of allocation and per-thread memory
  • arenas
  • For more information about jemalloc, see http://www.canonware.com/jemalloc/
