Enable OtherOS++ on Rebug CFW

what we really want to no is when and if we are having a cfw 3.61
come on peps 99% of the jailbreak scene just want to play back ups
i dont no what the big deal abbout linux or os we can have on our ps3s,i bet if sony blocked all linux os on the ps3 updates all these so call devs would jump at the chance to give us a new cfw,

Guys be patient and besides it probably wouldn't be 3.60 cfw but a way to downgrade and/or 3.60 keys. Even though nothing is unhackable due to human error, it takes time. Also linux functionality is what started the whole hacking scene due to it motivating hackers to try to bring it back. Perhaps you don't care about it, and I have never used it, we should still be grateful because they aren't our slaves and can quit at any time or at the least stop sharing. So while backups are a part of ps3 homebrew, they aren't the core.

So far there is no use for Linux on the PS3, as much as I love Linux there just really isn't a real use for it.

Nothings been sorted out especially the RSX Driver, Linux is so limited on the PS3 it's better off on booting it on your computer anyways.

Sadly I wish this would be sped up but I feared this was going to happen, just not a whole lot of interest or know how to push such a big project.

It's cool to boot up Linux anyhow, but the fun is loss when half the things don't work anyways.

The only real benefit here is to use the Slim Ps3's into a Cluster with an open platform to the hardware and even then no ones used the OtherOS++ to cluster PS3's yet (Only the limited Official OtherOS).

At this point, programmers don't see any benefit for making a new CFW because all Sony has done is added security updates. Most of the games that have recently come out can still be backed up and patched t worked for 3.55 CFW, so until Sony makes an update that's worthwhile or easier to crack, then I doubt programmers will even waste their time. If you really want to back up your games, then just go on eBay and buy a PS3 with 3.55 or earlier firmware. Or if you already have 3.55, then just continue to back up your games and enjoy what you have on your current system. Otherwise quit bitchin'.

You are right. I am sorry. -_- I have been patient, and grateful of the progress made in the past six months. But it is a bit of a letdown to see things come to such a screeching hault after Geohot. I wish there was more that i could do to help out the devs.

This would be useful if Linux could be on 3.61 but I honestly don't see the need for linux as well on a PS3.

Now the people saying there is not a use for CFW 3.6x is just fucking retarded. Every game is now requiring the 3.60 keys so unless everyone wants to play older games we are fucked.

LA noire would have been nice to have played to see if it was good enough to buy now I guess I will go make a blind buy just to test it out on my legit console.

didnt work for me i dont get promted for an update or anything i just get error 8071053d, i tried using the dns trick tried without, tried np and sp-int? dunno what im doing wrong i followed the tut to the letter, all seems fine other then the error msg.
glad i backed up my vsh folder first ill prob just revert it back and wait for the rebug team to release something unless someone else knows what im doing wrong

although i havent played around with any firmwares, ive had PS3MFW running fine on Win7 X64 aswell..

No probs fellas glad i could help & spread some undisclosed news, Im also waiting for a proper release of the spoof from rebug although i did test it & it does work but the risk involved is ugh...risky. as spy45 mentioned some do get red screened but on restart all goes back to norm..for those that dont have to reinstall cfw via recov/service mode

When are they gonna release one for the PS3's without vflash?

I was on GeoHot firmware, and now I got the debug settings but no way of switching back to normal settings....  I didnt get a red screen lol so I guess your lucky?

I would be happy myself with just the 3.60 keys. I was looking into getting them myself. but apparently from what I understand is the bootloader keys used are the same across all current consoles. These can be used to decrypt LV0 with the use of dual Nor. It can be loaded into the memory and dumped. But goddamn I just don't have a lot of money for the NOR flasher in the event I brick one of my consoles.

My thoughts are if there is a way of connecting a PS3 on 3.55 cFW and an 3.60 OFW and using a homebrew app on the 3.55 console to use the bootloader keys to decrypt the LV0 on the 3.60 but you would have to find a way for both consoles to interact with each other. That would be a lot of work just to be wrong but I may give it a go after reading a bit more and if I can ever get any answers from the people in IRC.

those 3.60 keys keep getting closer for me I hope. and if I get them yeah I'm releasing them immediately cause we would just have to plug em into PS3MFW to compile our own CFW with the new keys attached. Which is the easy part.

A side note I did get a connection to PSN on my own CFW I made but it wont do anything but disco after a sec. And you can create a new account. This is all on retail PSN too.
