PS Vita's PSOne Library Gets Refreshed

Submitted by Christopher Groux; September 01, 2012

Plenty of Sony fans in the US were caught off guard when the first batch of PS Vita compatible PSOne titles were released to the public; and it wasn't so much because of the content as much as it was the sheer lack of choices we had. Thankfully, in a somewhat surprise tactic, our friends over at Sony have increased the official list by a full 26 titles of all types and genres. Allow me to shut up for just one second while I reveal to you guys exactly what games to expect:

  • Alundra
  • Arc the Lad II
  • Championship Bass
  • Extreme Pinball
  • Grandia
  • Hi Octane: The Track Fights Back
  • Klonoa: Door to Phantomile
  • Magic Carpet
  • Medal of Honor
  • Medal of Honor Underground
  • Nuclear Strike
  • Oddworld Abe’s Exxodus
  • Oddworld Abe’s Oddysee
  • Populous-The Beginning
  • R4 Ridge Racer Type 4
  • Rayman 1
  • Rayman2
  • SimCity 2000
  • Soviet Strike
  • Tekken
  • Tekken 2
  • Theme Hospital
  • Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six
  • Tomba!
  • Vanguard Bandits
  • Wing Commander IV

Pretty impressive am I right? If I were to suggest a couple, I would definitely be taking a look at the older Rayman titles. On the Vita's gorgeous screen, I would imagine the colors to pop to such a degree that I can't even visualize. Not to mention, it's such a classic addicting platformer that a gamer of any age and skill level should be able to fit right in. If you're looking for something more rough and tumble, Tekken will always be a personal love of mine. Get those combos practiced on the go before Tag Tournament 2 launches in a little over a week.

The best news of all is that uers that already purchased these games for PSP will be allowed to download them for Vita completely free of charge. Assuming that applies to some of you, what in the world are you waiting for?

Why do they have Tekken & Tekken 2 & don't have Tekken 3 in the PS Store? I'm just wondering.

If you download it on your ps3, you can then transfer the .pkg file in xmb (do not install the game on your ps3, leave it as a bubble)... can transfer the bubble to your vita and it installs on the vita. I have all my psone games except chrono cross and Final Fantasy V which are still both not playable on the Vita.

The Mega Man import games work too. Just have to find them in your list of downloads in the store app use the download link/button there.
