It's no secret that the PS Vita is somewhat hurting right now in comparison to the competition. While the recent 1.80 update finally gave us some PSOne classics on the go, there are still a few more holes that need to be filled in before this handheld truly performs as advertised. Thanks to a tweet from a Sony developer, we can confirm that Remote Play for games will be coming soon to select titles.
Despite its creeping sales numbers, the PS Vita has been a pretty solid handheld experience following its release. With its massive OLED screen bring one of its most shining features, there is no question that coupled with some powerful hardware games have never looked or played better during life's more mobile moments. That being said, Sony has been touting the remote play feature of its handhelds since the release of the PSP; and while it has served some purposes, it hasn't given many gamers what they truly want: the ability to stream their console gaming experience over wifi to their smaller devices.
However, according to a tweet from Sony developer head Shuhei Yoshida that day may be a little bit closer than we think for some games. Heading over to his account, we can see that he clearly states "I was play testing ICO HD Remote Play on PS Vita," which gives us plenty of hope that gaming remotely will be a thing of the future. However, he also states that this function will be limited on a title by title basis because the function requires "special programming" to be functional. While it may be limited, I would expect us to see Remote Play patches coming to some of Sony's flagship titles in the very near future.
