PS Vita Struggles To Gain Support

Submitted by UnashamedVandal; August 11, 2012

The PS Vita has been questioned from day one with a slow start and regular sales to boost popularity. However after a brief stint of popularity, the next generation handheld is still struggling according to Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida.

Its not often that a video game company will admit their shortcomings, yet recently Shuhei Yoshida announced that the PS Vita was struggling to gain support from a lot of 3rd party game publishers and was therefore affecting the console itself.

In an interview with PlayStation the Official Magazine, Shuhei followed up on these comments by stating that it is his job to increase recognized publishers.

Shuhei believes that the release of the Assassins Creed PS Vita title will hopefully attract a larger support for Sonys next gen portable.

Sony has to show developes that the machine IS secure, to ensure GAME SALES, even SONY did NOT want to support the PSP because of the exploits, games became crap and the ONLY reason to buy one IS to HACK, i LOVE my VITA and if a 3G version came out in CANADA i would have one too, SONY has done their part by releasing a DEV KIT where YOU can make your own homebrew AND run it on any VITA. i understand sony has to release stuff slowly to keep us launch day buyers happy, now, with your bad spelling and grammer i doubt you read this but, if you can not afford $20-$40 for a game i dont think you should buy a $250 system , go buy your $50 PSP AND play your PS1 games and nintendo emulators, while i enjoy my NEXT GEN system everywhere

Well, according to you it sounds like Sony is doing everything correctly, so they shouldn't have a problem.  And since you're pointing out spelling mistakes, it's "grammar".Laughing

Third-party companies are dumb as hell, nintendo pretty much flipps them off while sony looks for their support and they are still undecided.

While it does suck not having a large selection of games to choose from, does knowbody think of the fact that games take a little thing called TIME to create? You cant just go to EA and say "Hey guys, we need Fight Night PS Vita, you got a week to make it"...even simple games take AGES to create, just look back at DOOM3, that shit took like 10 years to make!

Dont worry guys, the Vita isnt gunna be another PSPGo (though i did like it myself). Sony has far too much invested in it to just call it quits and cut its losses. Do not panic, 3rd parties WILL come, just give them half a chance to actually develope something. You cant just throw a hunk of cash at a company, click ur fingers and out pops a AAA title...GIVE THEM TIME!

And i agree about the Assassin's Creed thingo, that in itself will sell tons of Vita's!

half the shit that they advertised is a joke. remote play cross play its all a joke. i bought a vita and im pissed, everything i wanted to do that sony advertised and it doesnt work. A small game library is ok if they made remote play better, its not like it cant be done we do it on hacked consoles. but they say buy it and play ur ps3 gaMES as if

I kind of agree with you........It is cruel enough to pirate games(after so much hard work put in by the developers).....but don't you think sony is becoming very selfish....the games are quite overpriced....It's because of this that people would want to pirate it.......I mean, only the rich can afford these games......people are also selfish and feel that only those who can 'afford' should enjoy such games.......selfish people, selfish people everywhere.........

Games may take time to create, but it shouldn't be a LIFETIME!! Shit, Sony shouldn't have released the Vita if they weren't able to produce the games for it. isn't that the whole purpose of making a gaming device anyway- to play games on it. Sony six dix.

They should add like a psp/psvita mini rom to hook up to your ps3 so you can play the games like that. Maybe more people would buy the games.

I agree with the earlier post as well about Assassin's Creed as well as backing up the Call of Duty on the go with the Vita.

The only thing i would change is allowing more cross play. Maybe a remake on some ps1 and ps2 titles. Myself having final fantasy 7 and 8 on one disk or downloadable for the vita would make my day. As well as Kingdom Hearts. Sports games are easier to make but lets get some RPG's in there and watch the sales go threw the roof.

I agree with the earlier post about Assassin's Creed as well as putting Coll of Duty right next to it. The only suggestion I have for Sony is more cross play games. remotting to the PS3 is OK but not all games are compatible. I would also like to see a remake of Final Fantasy 7 & 8 on one chip as well as downloadable. I believe this will drive sales threw the roof. Over all I love what was done with the Vita and I support Sony 100%.

I had a PSVita and the "real games" like Unchartet is awesom. I want to hack my PSV to but when good games come out I will buy them the problem with the PSP emulator. where are all NFS games? Sony need to make there developmetn kit easy to use they did exacly this fail when they released PSP
