Wololo Tells us Whats Wrong With VHBL

Submitted by tbag; April 29, 2012

This morning wololo reached out to VHBL users who have been experiencing issues with the most current version using the game Super Collapse! 3.  He explains why, and offers some reassurance that it can and will be fixed, as well as an issue installing homebrew on their Vitas.  Lets take a look at what he has to say regarding the status of his groundbreaking HBL project.

First off people have been reporting issues with running certain homebrew on their Vita that should be working with VHBL like Snes9xTYL (a Super NES emulator). wololo says that its more than likely just a simple bug with a hook for one of the audio functions, and should be an easy fix.  He did note that he will be unable to work on the bug for a few days but reminds us that VHBL is open source and anyone can work on fixing the bug if they have some fee time.

Second, some people have been reporting issues with installing homebrew on their Vita.  They noted that they are only getting a clicking noise in the VHBL menu and nothing else will happen or the menu will just crash. This is usually because the install.zip file was not properly prepared and should be an uncompressed zip file. To avoid this you could use Homebrew Preparer v0.2 or higher or just try and find a pre-made homebrew package for VHBL in wololos site forums.

So that completes the project update from wololo, as you can see nothing is free of bugs but with a little time it can be fixed.  So even if youre not wololo you can still work at making VHBL better. I just wish I had a Vita so I could use VHBL and have better understanding of what its all about..  But Ill just have to make do with my PSP-1001 and tryout the HBL version of these exploits for myself. What do you think about VHBL and the Vita, is VHBL worth using at this point? And what do you want to see on the Vita?

It's definetely not worth using now, as most of us still have our PSPs, up and ready to rock. Imho, what the scene needs right now, is a research on how Vita's cartridges work and so on. Games are too expensive in my country.
